I got me Sennheiser HD280 Pros today. My 10 year old Sonys
finally gave up when I was in Finland (actually someone
killed them). I usually mix and match through a pair of
Tannoy Reveal Active monitors, but these headphones really
rock. You can't listen to the Tannoys at low volumes, so
I'll use these late at night.

My only complaint is that they feel a bit too light, if it's
possible to complain about light weight with something
you're going to wear on your head. Anyway, it makes them
feel cheap. Sound is what matters though, and no complaints
there.

Anyone else have these? No? What do you have?

-P

"if it's possible to complain about light weight with

not really. Think about what you're saying, crazy.
quality matters. keep your head high, without stuff pusing
it down, like heavy weights.

my new sony cd-player with my non-sony amp but it still
sounds to fat for me?

Once I built a speaker using a couple of leaves, a big
bucket of water, some glue and a big nail.
Still, eventhough how impressive it may seem, it's only one
(mono) speaker.

i get really great sound out of my sony studio headphones.
they were relatively inexpensive. Sony MDR-V600 is what
they is. i recommend them highly. they'll cost you between
$60 and $80 depending on where you get 'em. They are
extremely comfortable too and i've had mine for approx 4
years with no complaints.

sennheiser probably make the best headphones in the
industry... i bought myself a pair, which were very ace, and
very light... but i ended up returning them because they
didn't cup around my ear... and thus didn't hold in the
sound as well as those that do... and since i needed them
for all-purpose (riding around on the bus, etc.)... i ended
up returning them for sonys... cause i didn't have the cash
to spring for the next level higher of sennheisers... trust
me though, they are very high quality, and if they suit your
needs, you should run with 'em... my friend has a really
high end pair that are quite simply the best headphones
ever...

I've got these crappy headphones some Philips headphones.
Real cheapos. No 2 ways about nothing beats hearing a
kickarse track on decent headphones with bass rumbling like
it should.

I favour Sennheiser cans.

I have three pairs, each for different uses:

1) In ear MX-500s

2) Open Back HD433s

3) Closed Back HD-25s

Situation:

a) Listening to Discman/MP3 player: 1

b) Doing Csound/Supercollider Stuff on my ibook at home: 3

c) Mastering my own tracks: 2 and 3

d) Making Music: 3

e) Listening to music late at night on the PC: 3

f) DJing outdoors: 2

g) Practicing DJing in my room/at a mates house: 2

h) DJing in a club or pub: 3

i) Doing Csound/Supercollider Stuff on
my ibook out of the house: 1

j) With my Gameboy Advance in the house: 2

k) With my Gameboy Advance out of the house: 1

Ha ha, as if anyone is going to bother to read all that and
link the headphone model to the use :D

I'd rather have some of that audio equipment that you can
only hear if you are in the path of the sound and no where
else. I don't even own a pair of headphones.

ive got a pair of sennheiser hd265. 2 complaints (minor):

- the bass is a bit to loud
- could be a little more comfortable

i also own a pair of sennheiser hd570. i had to repair
them, and they never sounded the same :(
