Those C.D. scratch remover kits and cleaning kits?
i have a couple old cds that are kinda scratched and wonder if i should buy one of these kits or just buy the cd again. or download it.. yeah, i think i'll download it.

but the expensive ones (thousands of dollars) do work quite well

for removing the scratches
you put a little toothpaste on the scratch leave it there for some seconds then gently wipe it off, the toothpaste almost has the same refractive index as the cd material, if everything went ok it won't skip anymore, it'll just go through it (maybe you have a millisecond of silence but you don't notice that, and with a scratch remover you'd have that too)
try it, it worked for me :)
