 | last night i went to this crazy communal drumming type event

im not sure what these things are called, but basically a
bunch of ppl, like over 50, gathered in a park downtown

some.... like over a dozen, were playing on drums in a
 circle
ppl of all levels of ability (some of them were really
amazing to watch), w/ a few sort of leading the way but it
was not strictly organized at all

mostly bongo type drums.. but there was a tamborine and some
 other stuff.....
somebody was improvising on a saxaphone for some time, which
added a different 'flava' to the music

there was also some flame-on-a-rope business

everyone was really friendly and positive... all hippy (and
 some raver) types, basically

some people were dancing, there were some hoola-hoops(sp?),
 glow sticks, etc

very nice atmosphere, like i said all positive hippyish

i'd vaguely heard of this sort of thing before, but this is
the first time ive been to one
it was really fun.... i want to go again soon

who else has heard of these events or been to one?

it sounds like something BoC would be affiliated with....

 | I recently played guitar at a hippy festival in Tennessee. Similar kinda atmosphere! I loved it, except for the tofu,
 which I despise.

 | the drumming was really amazing to listen to..... theres nothing else like that sound

its so loose cus its its like 15 different ppl and its not
 organized..... but it fits together

so all the individual rhythms form one giant group
 rhythm... its really amazing

 | i once did something like that too. With a bunch of people drumming on barrels, glass,etc..under a bridge and record
 it.

but since some years i have something against those
 'hippie-like' bongo-rasta-i'm so connected with nature-type
 of things.. don't know why
