"I mean, everyone here likes electronic music. "

No, I don't.

I liked Tool with Undertow quite a bit. I think it's the
artistic visuals as much as the music. After that album,
though...I've been kinda lukewarm about them. When it comes
to guitar music, I'm more into what they are labelling as
'post-rock' I guess. Godspeed You Black Emperor, Tortoise,
etc. I think for the most part, vocals suck. They get in
the way of great music.

to quote you exactly:

"Amber is insanely good. It's the album that made me feel
something for electronic, rather than just, I don't know air

drum or something. I don't have a favorite Autechre,
because I love them all, but that is DEFINITELY my
favorite. "

tool is alright...

they are pretty one dimensional and it seems as though they
are never trying to push the envelope to expand their sound.
but they write some good songs in the key of "tool" if ya
know what im saying.

I like it when they keep it simple. My favorite Tool tracks
are from Opiate and Undertow. The more concise stuff, not as
ambitous... probably why I like A Perfect Circle so much.

for what it's worth, i don't like tool, though i've only
heard a few tunes accompanied by videos. i did not identify
with the emotional content personally, and generally did not
appreciate the style. like zydeco, not my thing at all, at
all.

They were my favorite band for a few years and I followed
them religiously. But I grew out of them and now I see them
as sorta pretentious. I still think they're talented
(especially drum god Danny Carey) but something about them
bothers me. I can't really explain it.

And no matter what Tits says, it's perfectly alright not to
like them :)

i like them..
nice lyrics, maynard has a good voice, good drumming.. good
music in general.. in my oppinion.. i can see how some here
might not like them though..
to each his/her own....

hahah roygbivcore were you a judy blum fan at age 9 too?

anyways, in my opinion tool is past their prime....the new
record is a bit too...psychadelic for me. plus, i never
want to hear that pair-o-balls song again. either one. i
guess tool was never my favorite band, but i do like em a
lot (a bit sick of them nowadays though)...one of my
favorite memories is seeing that little tiny show in chicago
at the riviera...and then seeing the four midwest dates
later in the fall of 2001...they are good live! though the
last show i saw this past fall was pretty balls -- the best
part was seeing mike patton pounce around with tomahawke.
artwise, tool has the best shirts and great videos but i'm
not so into this rainbow business they seem to be throwing
themselves into lately.

by the way roy, are you a fan of family matters?
boy.. so many years of appreciating that show ironically..

and steve's clone-person-thingy, Steffon urKel was dreamy..

....that show started out as wholesome, fairly believable
family sit-com, but then eventually (d)evolved into some
crazy sci-fi show where in each episode, steve would violate
some kind of law of nature/physics..

it just shows what rating-starved program writers will do to
keep our attention.. much to our amusement..

it was kind of like watching a train crash happening in slow
motion, season after season.. i call this "the
T.G.I.F-train-wreck"

another great thing was that littlest kid richie's hair, and
the fact that they had a younger sister and she mysteriously
disappeared after the first season..

not to mention aunt rachael -- she disappeared along with
judy i believe.

my favorite was when carl and whoever the wife was listened
to a tape of slang and started calling each other fly
honeys..

oh, and i think the REAL damage was done with TGIF when they
started sabrina the teenage witch, and that other show with
teen in the name...

fullhouse, step by step, just the ten of us, and family
matters were the real classics...

offline Q4Z2X on 2003-08-13 23:43 [#00821050]

the wife's name was harriet, i think..
wow.. what a great show..
but they didn't even give us a half-assed reason why two
family members left..
but i guess that's just part of the show's arcane charm..
