if you haven't heard tool you're missing out big time.. if
you've heard one of their songs more than once or heard a
whole album and just don't like them, something is wrong
with you

i listened to one of their albums while high (dont ask which

no i like them, that's why i havent said anything..
just wanted to get to know the fellow boardies
i'll set up a post now on who doesnt like guitar
alltogether: any which way you turn it tool is mostly loud
guitar music, well and 'intelligent' but that's a bit
besides the point

nothing wrong with me.

*catfight, hsss, scratch*

it's a figure of speech, but i feel pretty strongly about
it.. if you're into arty music, and everyone here is, you
should like tool.. unless something happened that prevents
you from doing so, such as knowing someone who was into tool
and totally obnoxious, annoying magazines toting them as the
best band in the world, or just sour grapes because people
talk about tool all the time but not your favorite band or
some band tool are influenced by

Hmm.. maybe you do have a point. I am in total thrall of
their videos. I enjoy their music when I see the videos for
them. As a purely aural experience, they come up lacking.

could be that. the albums can be really dense, which works
for and against them depending on the listener's
personality, tastes, and current mood.

im not fighting roy...

we are all into electronic music here... but not everyone
likes autechre. or plaid. whatever.

Just, different tastes... even within a certain style.

But i mean, this would be just like me saying "I love
academic electronic music so much, and if anyone doesnt
agree, there is something wrong with you"

Im glad you like them... really, but your opinion really
doesnt hold any weight.

i like Tool but i don't listen to them much any more.
i think it's like the 'primus syndrom.' That is to say,
their sound is so unique that it makes all their music sound
the same. so i got bored of them relatively quickly.

no, I think its exactly the same...

I mean, everyone here likes electronic music.

So it would make sense that they like academic electronic
music too right?

No.

Anyways, whatever.

I dont like tool.

some credit.

Yes I am past the age of appreciating Concept Album shtick.
I like the rock music to kick my ass, make it's point and
leave in under 5 minutes ideally.

I don't like The Deftones, but I respect them and I get the
impression that they're sincere about what they do...
Tool... I love them alot, even though I have a tough time

you'd enjoy tool more if you didn't have such an adversion
to liking them

I got put off Deftones because of their stupid rap metal
style they were depicted with on Crow:City of Angels. I
refused to take them seriously for a long time. I still
dont have any of their albums but whenever I see a video or
hear one of their songs...I go hey..that's not so bad.
Actually it's rather good.

I had a friend once he took some acid
Now he thinks he's a fire hydrant
It's okay until he pisses on your lighter
Kinda smells kinda cool kinda funny anyway

satan, satan, satan...

I had a friend once he took some ecstasy
Tried to marry me and every one in the room
He was sort of loving kinda caring,
kinda tried to fuck my lazy boy
It got a bit messy all over the curtains,
arm chair covers, throw pillows, and carpeting

satan, satan, satan...

Well I mean, I own all Tool's releases, have followed them
religiously since 'Undertow' and once considered them the
greatest rock band around, but I wouldn't say everyone who
is on this board has no excuse - related to the actual music
- for not liking them, that's just daft. Everyone's
different.
