Nine Inch Nails - Dead Souls [Promo]

A1 Falling (Quake Soundtrack)
A2 Suck (Drum n Bass Mix)
A3 Dead Souls (Ian Curtis Tribute)
A4 Pulse (Quake Soundtrack)

B1 Drive Her Down
B2 Burn (Cleveland Sessions)
B3 First Born (Quake Soundtrack)
B4 Down in it (Demo Version)
B5 Death Factory (Quake Soundtrack)

found this today in my not-so-local record store and bought
it immediately, I've never seen this in a discography
before, but it looks the shit, does anyone know how rare
this is? what the story behind it is? and so forth,

anyone else own this?

sorry to burst your bubble...but that's a bootleg...

dead souls was never promo'ed. nin frontman, trent reznor,
never got the labels to release it on any other cd other
than the crow soundtrak, and a jap release of TDS.

is this on vynal? the numbering scheme looks vynal...if sou,
could you post some pics? a vynal bootleg is pretty cool,
even if it IS a boot. :P

Better hope it doesn't say "copywright" cos then it would be
a fake.

is it vynal?

there's no suck tracks as:

any remix of suck
any other version of dead souls (other than the original joy
division track)

trent would never just slap on some quake tunes, and some
other random/not so popular tracks onto any legit promo.

also, trent HATES down in it, hell i also, would hate any
track that proves me as an otter fraud, and a theif to a
legit/hard working Vancouver B.C. industrial act.

i AM really sorry to let you know this...but you need to
return it...i bet you the store employees won't let you for
some bullshit reasons, other than it's fucking fake (which
is probably illegal to sell bootlegs for profit, especially
on the comercial consumer market!!!).

sorry. :(

there are MANY sites on the web that disply bootlegs...heh,
even this one is unsure if this is real, ie. "haloless?"

believe me, i used to bleed black blood with nin symbols on
it...i know my nin.

I found a pic of it here and it looks quite well
made for a bootleg

I have no idea why I'm doing this, I don't even like NIN
that much.

promo's are really hard to keep track of though,... seeing
as most of them are gibven out at concerts and such,.. and
this has all the markings in the right places, it'd have to
be a pretty fucking awesome con job if it were fake, as it
has all the proper names of the quake tracks (which most
people don't know) and it has original material on it,
(Trent "re-singing" parts on suck, I severely doubt this is
a fan mix)

ok, two more bits of fakness proofy goodness...

1. the quake soundtrack doesn't have track titles...maybe
names made by fans, but look over a copy of quake (which,
btw, if you put in your cd player will play the sndtrk after
the first track).

2. the pic on the back of this vynal would NEVER be put on
any legit nin release.

2a. trent doesn't put his pics on nin music (besides PHM).

2b. that a pic from the perfect drug photoshoot (it has
charlie clouser, and some other nin programmer WAY after the
days of dead souls), which shows:

2bi. first that the pic was taken YEARS after that promo
would be released

2bii. second that pic was taken from a photoshoot to promote
TPD, not dead souls...

first track on the quake cd is excellent noise a la
smojphace, btw

:P

So if it was fake (and I'm perfectly prepared to
admit that it was since I don't really care one way or the
other) why would it be on TVT records? They release cheap &
dodgy looking releases all the time. Look at the TVT release
of Analogue Bubblebath 1. I'd have said that was a bootleg
if I didn't know better.

1. I know

2. understandable

2a. promo's are different from proper releases like that,
most promo's don't even have artworks, and when they do
they're usally half arsed anyway

2b. the copyright on it is 1999, perfect drug was in 1997

2bi. the promo looks like it was released 1999

2bii. maybe he liked the pic?

it's probably is a fake, but I still agree with the track
selection, fucking great mix if you ask me

hey, i'm not trying to call you stupid, but if you like it,
keep it. i'd personally be pissed to find out i just spent x
amount of unnessary greedy $$$ on a fake release).

I'm not pissed off, I've got a concert bootleg of nin (solid
gold hell), and I'm happy to have it because there's some
great material on there, I don't care that some guy somwhere
is profitting and trent isn't, he has enough money, it's the
smaller more independant artists that I particualarly try to
buy everything for

believe me they're not going to say it's real, for reasons
already explained in this thread. no one's putting you down
tho, lots of bootlegs look official.
