Your I meant.

Old vs new. Well I just prefer BOC. I like Autechre too. But
I just think BOC don't beat around the bush they go straight
for the killer punch with their tracks everytime.

they're nothing alike. they are both IDM but they have
completely different aims and sounds.
It's like comparing Sonic Youth and John Mayer.

Auds of Canahre.
Actually it would be really funny if they had a live face
off, like Armand Van Helden and Fatboy Slim did a few years
ago.

who do you prefer is all he's asking... No need to make this
difficult...

for me it depends... sometimes I'm in a BoC mood, other
times a Autechre mood... I love them both, but I think
Autechre would get my vote for best overall though...

I'm just being intentionally difficult :*)

I like Autechre better, but not by alot.
I do think they are a little too different to be adequately
compared, but in terms of preference I would say Ae by a
bit.

Autechre. And I don't even like Autechre that much. Although
they are one of my favourite IDM acts. But they're shit.

more melody in BoC? i guess you haven't listened too much to
ae... i mean, there's even melody in 'gantz graf'...

Definitely Autechre. And I don't buy the ''you can't compare
them, they're so different'' stuff, I hear a lot of
similarties in between them. And I'm a shameless comparer of
all things varied. Beatles > Richard Devine, Wayne Gretzky >
Radiohead, Xltronic > Maxim Magazine.

both have their merits, don't they? ae are more layered,
more levels of listeningaturisation. so they get my vote
(although the mystique that comes along with the boc brand
is involving)

I'd want to hear AE remix some BOC tracks... maybe The Devil
is in the Details, Turqoise Hexagon Sun, Basefree... among
others. Collaboration, not confrontation! Peas!

offline uviol from United States on 2003-08-03 17:02 [#00807134]

They can be compared, but Autechre seems alot more concerned
with concepts, structure, sound, and mechanically cloaked
emotion. Boards of Canada seems to me to have a very
different goal and different themes, ie. nostalgia,
childhood, religion, math. They definitely overlap, but BoC
seems to have a more definite agenda.
That being said, I like them both immensely.
