WTF? ok here's the post -------------------------------- This is a sort of review of the show and my night in general as I'd end up crapping about both in general here at some stage in the near future. I haven't the faintest idea how to write a review so here goes (this is also getting pasted on wattem and tefo and maybe µ) ---------------------------------------------------------- Some local sampler boys opened for him and they were actually pretty tight but pretty obviously biting Scott's ass something terrible (aw fuck who cares they were still cool). Unless they were just DJing his tracks (couldn't see 'em to well but from the bar it looked to me liek they had samplers and shit not just spinning vinyl). Prefuse came on and all the chinstrokers got bopping, it was weird for me, I'm used to being in crowds and totally getting down (and I was wired off my tits) so I had to try not to move around TOO much. He played quick selections from Vocal Studies and One Word Extinguisher and a bunch of shit I haven't heard before. It was all seamlessly put together - I was trying to pick when he loaded up new sounds for the next track on the sampler (but then again I'm not a hardware kid so I don't know how these things work), he was just playing the shit like crazy the whole time. Totally busy shit. My mate who went with me is a breakbeat head (into breaks and dnb) and he was hell impressed "This shit is fucking crazy - look how crazy he's going at that fucking machine!". No live MCs or anything though - just another unannounced DJ scratching over the top of the tracks. Good thing someone had the sense to turn the decks right down so the scratching was barely heard over the cutups. Obviously a lot of th elive recorded MCing stuff in his tracks was absent but the cutup vocal stabs were still present. After a brilliant set I made a point of going up and shaking his hand and getting my copy of One Word Extinguisher signed and giving him a CD of my shit, which he (for some reason) actually seemed to think was really cool. "Ah! This your shit?" "Yeah man, just have a listen if you're bored on the plane or whatever" "Yeah cool man" Also managed to give away CDs to a dude who works at DaDa's (local record store, arguably best in town for getting underground shit - completely dope store, they pretty much all know me there), a dude who I see at every dnb or breaks rave I go to who also DJs on local radio station RTRFM (he has pretty much exactly the same taste in music as me, lots of breaks and dnb and IDM stuff), a chick who my mate was having a chat to who also DJs on RTRFM, and a few more people (can't remember) and I'm giving one to my raver druggie barber tonight at HEAT (dnb night) who cut my hair this morning. Ahaha crazy few days. I've been stoned as fuck pretty much nonstop since the show. Good thing I took friday off work. |

i emailed him 1 time and he didn't reply.. but i just wrote 1 or 2 sentences, asking him what erykah badu song he sampled for "nuno". the email didn't get returned to me, so i know the address is legitimate. it's from the hefty records mailing list i accidentally got access to (the list got corrupted and everyone on the list got to see the email addresses it was sent to), and seeing as how scott has his own imprint, eastern developments, on hefty, and has released music with them for years, i figure it's the right address. just in case it's not, or if he doesn't check his email for a while, i hope you kept a copy.. |

Hahah I spoke with sense once on this irc chatroom that SQ recommended to me and he was the biggest wanker ever. He kept saying this phrase at me which had me puzzled but sounded liek he was giving me shit so I started talkig music at hime and he said some tehcnical muso shit which had me puzzled so I was all "hey go easy on me I'm not big, man I'm just an mp3kid" and he got really shitty at me for suggesting he was successful!!!
