I love these guys. If there's other fans here, which I'm
sure there are, what's your favorite LP? I thought I liked
Speak and Spell the best but I recently got Songs of Faith
and Devotion and I have a new favorite :).
I'm wondering what the common favorite is. I thought it
would be Violator. but who knows.

Master and Servant is on 'Some Great Reward'.. a decent LP.
I don't have all of them either.

I was also a diehard fan of Clarke's early work.. but I
donno, this last album I got beats it methinks. well...
it's just so different.

kmfdm has 1,000 of meanings
thats just one of them

i like depeche mode and kmfdm

the real meaning, or the original meaning translates into
"to pity for the majority"

I like a lot of their work...
I even like "Ultra" I think it's a GREAT album... "Barell of
a gun", and "Home" are great tracks... among others

I actually don't have Ultra.. I am still missing about 4 of
the ten LPs. I will definitely get it though.

(thanks for explaining about kmfdm :-) I like them again
now)

Ultra was actually the first DM album I got... and it is
really good. Especially "Barell of a gun", I had that track
on repeat for 6 hours straight.

my wife is an insane DM fan. she traded various vhs tapes
with other fans around the world so I got to see them drunk
with fletcher necking on all the other band members. she's
pen pals with alan wilder too.

pitchfork, btw

exciter was pretty disappointing, especially in hindsight

if there are any albums we can call perfect, then Violator
seems to be one of them. truly a classic.

i'd say the other albums are great as well, though this one
is... (see above ;)

I haven't heard all of DM's albums,but of the one's i do
have,Speak and Spell is my favourite.

Most groups debut album is usually their best,IMO.

Very much a sign of the times, though.

PS is Vince Clarke doing an 'experimental/ambient' solo
album?

Some Great Reward has always been my fave from D Mode... Lie
to Me, Blasphemous Rumors, Something to Do, If You Want...
some of my favorite tracks. Gotta hear Dave Gahan's new solo
album soon, before I forget and it fades into oblivion.

consistent.

That's truly an excellent story. :D

I thought Exciter was, err.. hit or miss at best. I liked
it, but many of the songs seemed half finished or weak. I'd
say the best tracks on it are 'I Am You' and 'Comatose'..
maybe 'Shine'.
In retrospect I am remembering how much I like Some Great
Reward. Ophecks listing those track titles got me
thinking...

I think so, early use of narrative samples used really well
in a popular format.

best evah and evah......must have for everyoneeeeee

i think violator is their best, it's a straight through
listen. i don't think there's a song on it that i would
even consider "so-so." music for the masses rocks, songs of
faith and devotion (live, too!) is great, and ultra is
another really good one.

as for side projects, i have heard dave gahan's "paper
monsters," which i thought blew. but recoil, on the other
hand, is great! i especially like unsound methods.
