In what situations, have you been real close to getting
killed?

I once got knocked over by a car. I just flew up into the
air a coupla feet, landed on my feet, and ran off. I guess
that's the nearest.

Last month, I was on an open air bus in Spain and I stood up
to get off at my stop - and there was a fucking cable
hanging between two poles which nearly decapitated me! I hit
the floor like a vietnam flashback and washed my pants out
in the nearest latrine

I can't help it if I've never fallen out of an airplane at
10,000 feet and the parachute jammed !

So many things have happened to me...
Like I ride my bike around for several weeks without breaks
(and I ride real fast). This was just outside the core of
the city, so there was a lot of traffic. At some moments I
couldn't stop the bike, and just went on into the traffic.
I was close to get hit several times, but yeah, I survived.

Also, earlier this year I was really wasted (had been on a
great party!) and the fire alarm went off in the building
where I live, and I didn't wake up. Everybody else ran out,
but I just stayed asleep. If the fire had actually been on I
might not had made it.
This is nothing compared to e.g. Jarworski, but these
moments scared me.

Did they manage to get the chute to work at all? Or did they
hit the ground without any protection? :O

he managed to get the chute a bit open, it was all tied up.
he survived firstly because he was in a good condition from
sports, and secondly from the untiding: he didn't see the
ground coming and was relaxed therefor. they fixed him up
pretty good afterwards, only has some strang insides and big
scar on his stomach

I hesitate to mention this due to Gigingers thread, I hope
it causes no offence.

I was convinced I was going to drown once. I was surf
canoeing once while my brother and his mate were surfing
further along the beach. I had a yak deck spray deck on
which is basically neoprene like a wetsuit- very hard to
tear. I got capsized by a very fast wave in shallow water
and winded by having my head and torso slammed against the
bottom. Normally I would have just pulled the spray deck
off, but I had accidentally tucked the rip off cord
inside the spray deck. I was out of air and fumbling
for the cord for about 10-15 seconds before realising it
wasn't there. Somehow I found the strength to punch through
the spray deck, tearing the fabric along the seam before I
blacked out. I got out and fell over into the water when I
tried to stand up. A bystander ran up and checked I was okay
and ran off to get my paddle while I recovered.

It hasn't put me off watersports (no sick jokes please...)
and I swim in the sea regularly, but it did remind me to
treat the sea with the respect it deserves.

i nearly died of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning a few years
ago because i didn't know what was bothering me. i laid down
for hours with a fierce headache and had my mom not come in
and agreed that there was something weird going on in the
house i might've died in my sleep overnight.

sometimes i feel like i'm going to die in a carcrash but it
hasn't happened yet. DC drivers can be very unsafe but i
guess not as bad as NY.

Me and my cousins used to be big adventurers, much to our
parents' dismay, and we once found ourselves on the edge of
a giant cliff. We would have been smashed to bits on the
rocks below, but we shimmied away like pros.

I've also almost drowned several times... I'm 20 and I can't
swim one stroke. I can't float either, I must be made of
strange materials.

you must not have any salt in your body! makes sense if
you're a vampire >=o)>

i've had several close brushes, but i think most people
have. you could be minding your own business and bad things
can happen.

BECAREFULOUTTHERE!!

minutes - and when they did i was purple. all over. the
ambulance barely made it in time - and i was pretty much
dead - but somehow - i managed to be revived - and here i am
today :)

when i was four i took penicillin for some kind of infection
and had an allergic reaction to it in a mall. would have
died on the way to the hospital if my dad weren't such an
agressive driver.

oh yeah, i forgot. i was in the upper peninsula of michigan
out trekking with my uncle when we ran into a black bear. we
got chased quite aways before literally walking into some
random persons house. they were having dinner with their
family, so it must have been weird seeing a kid and some big
guy burst through their door.

I've almost had a heart attack once when I had a lot fo
amphetamines topped by smoking a lot of ice
I freaked out over somethnig and my heard went ridiculously
fast for a long time and I was sweating etc etc etc
It was actually worse than it probably sounds.

A couple of months ago I'd had too much (similar stuff
again) and went psychotic for about 17-24 hours.
Was convinced for a while that I had broken ym brain and
wasn't coming back.

Also got drunk and went on a mate's trampoline once and
jumped realy high off it and landed on my head.
Everyone freaked out coz it was pretty nasty but it didn't
really hurt at all and I got back up and started drinking
again.

Uhh I've done this ind of shit to myself a bunch of times,
but I can't remember most of them off the top of my head.

When I was Five, I did a rolie-polie on the sofa after
dinner and started choking on the bread I'd just eaten....
it really got jammed. I could breathe a little but there was
no0one around to help me out because my mum popped outside.

Strange feeling, trying breathe in enough air every breath.
I feel for people who suffer from Asthma.

I have a somewhat similar story. I was five and almost
chocked to death, on a Life Saver ironically.

ive hung off towers for a laugh, cycled into cars, had
incredibly severe alcohol poisoning, allergic reactions that
have stopped my breathing, gotten myself almost drowned in
big waves at the beaches more times than i can remember,
almost lost control of a car at 150kph, nearly overdosed
from opiates, the list goes on :) its all a laugh in
retrospect, but damn spooky to think about it too hard..
