I read the book called 'The River' which offered a reasonable hypothesis that AIDS jumped the species barrier through polio vaccines created from monkeys infected with SIV (a simian virus closely related to HIV). These polio vaccines were distributed en masse in sub-Saharan Africa. He's not able to prove this 100%, but he connects a hell of a lot of dots. |

well, this article is researching a guy named Segal, theory, that the virus was originally made by the government. It was tested on inmates, with the agreement, that they would be released early from jail, if they voleentered as test subjects. they kept them for 6 months, and after seeing no results, released them. However, they didnt expect the incubation time to be so long, hence they didnt see it. These prisoners then went out and spread the disease unknowningly. So it wasnt that the goverment spread it on purpose... it was an experiment gone wrong. and SIV comes up many times in this article. additionally, the author refers to a document, by a congressmen (I think) who pruposed a $10 million project to construct a virus that destroyed the immune system. this document is on public record, in the library of congress. |

The book cites 3 watertight samples of HIV-positive blood from before 1977 or 1974. It also states that visna, HTLV-1 and BLV are only distantly related to HIV, far too distantly to have played a role in its origin. This is a well-researched book on the origins of HIV. It's called 'The River' by Edward Hooper. You should read it if you have more than a casual interest in this subject. |

I highly doubt this theory on AIDS being made up by the gov/CIA... on the subject of being born gay, gay condition can be something you FEEL you always been, but it certainly isn't as natural as being straight wich is , after all, the only way you can have children the way nature intended it being gay has become a mass phenomenon where people who are weak in their mind (whatever reasons) becomes gay as a solution ps : i have nothing agaisnt gay people at all, it's just that i think it's become something somewhat out of proportion |

i am pretty much 100% certain than homosexuality is a form of psychological regression - every kid goes through a gay phase when they're young, you don't realise it's sexual at the time, it helps you identify with your own gender so you can form proper relationships with females in later life... but all forms of sexual "deviance" are generally believed to be forms of regression - regressing back to earlier childhood memories. so that's why they all say "i was always like this" because they can relate to that stage in their development much better. i believe that everyone is bisexual on one level (girls are more open about this kind of thing, so about 1/2 of them experiment), but i also believe that homosexuality is a psychological condition and not a physical one. but i could be wrong! i certainly have nothing against people who choose to be homosexual - it makes the world a much more interesting place. |

Well given the pronounced differences in hormonal levels between gay and straight males also that there is some minor variance in the structure of the brain between the two I would say it is a physical as well as psychological thing. I disagree with your theory of regression and lets not forget the Greeks thought male on male physical contact was a natural and acceptable thing, fathers offering their teenage boys to officials for the night, it was only with the rise of the Roman empire that homosexual acts once again became taboo, also in nature male-male sexual activity is not at all uncommon. There is actually no indication that humans are naturally 'programmed' to seek out an opposite sex partner for anything other than procreation, so maybe the straight population of the world are actually psychologically repressing themselves? I think with most things in history there tends to be a cyclical effect, so maybe it is just time for it to be accepted again? As far as HIV goes I have read up about the polio theory and it is very good, certainly the best I have read so far. |

Oh yeah I agree with your take on it too. The standard (not PC) psychology view on it is regression - It's often the kids who get on REALLY well with girls when they're younger and don't form the typical male bonds and things... then end up being a little camp acting and not able to get the relationships they need from women in later life - With hormone levels you can't be 100% certain whether it's cause or effect, as the mind and body have this two-way communication going on - We know that stress and happiness can alter hormone balance. It is thought (in psychology at least) that further regression leads to more "deviant" sexual acts - Early childhood memories of being spanked/beaten, being very close to a pet, even regressing back to being a baby - All not too uncommon fetishes these days. But I agree with you, I think every human's capable of being with the same sex (you can have sex with yourself for example, with no reproductive value), I do agree that it's deliberately repressed, and there's probably no reason for it not to be. I actually read something about HIV being created by the New World Order to wipe out homosexuals, and devestate the black community... Apparently AIDS breaks down the black immune system much faster... Maybe just wild conspiracy theorists. Weren't killer bees developed to wipe out the black population? Or is that just nonsence? |

Being gay is pretty natural.. I mean look at animals... the more you learn about animals and their gay tendencies , the easier and mor elogical human gayness is. I remember watching a show on the discovery channel about homosexuality in animals.. it was shocking. |

saying that tho, it could have evolved over time as a way of replicating itself, i mean back in the bible days, the church discouraged homosexuality, anal sex, sex with animals etc etc etc, but since then these things (especialy homosexuality, drug taking and promiscuous unprotected sex) have become accepted and more people started doing it, so therefore AIDS would have a steep increase in infections and the virus would have 'perfected' itself over time as a way of surviving and replicating |

Retroviruses actually insert themselves into your genome and sometimes carry away extra bits when they're transcribed back. So that's one way their composition can change over time. I agree with what Inverted is saying about polio vaccines - I've read a few articles on that idea and everything seems to click together properly. Though it's hard not to automatically blame the US government after they set precedents like . :-/ |

You'd think it would die out then, with homosexuals not having kids... But isn't it growing instead? I'd have thought there would be probably a mix of psychological and physical dispositions myself... and then there's the more obscure sex things, like being beaten or shat on - Some of those fetishes are definetly the result of early childhood experiences... Do you think maybe early experiences could affect how the brain develops though? With the whole cause and effect arguement... |

Further research into that study showed that the difference in brain structure was likely caused by the homosexuals mother undergoing a major stressful incident during the second trimester of pregnancy, it was found that in those who's brain had been found to be structurally different over 90% of the woman had experienced trauma during this trimester. As far as fetish stuff goes, I don't think that will ever be worked out. I think it is pretty commonly excepted that socio-environmental factors play a large role in brain development during the formative years, but whether these are mearly a symptom of deviant behaviour or the cause I am not too sure. |
