That drukqs is the best IDM album ever.

the fast tracks are like nothing ever made.. listen to the
detailed beats on the tracks on disc 1, listen carefully...
every minor detail is taken care of.. the complex beat never
repeats itself.. the breaks are super polished... just it
the beats you have a whole universe to explore.

and the tracks on disc 2... they evolve in a very sutil yet
drastic way.. and every track tells a story... it's like an
animated film.

thats the fast tracks.. the piano tracks are only there to
give you a break while the next fast track starts.. just
listening one of them carefully is exhausting... specially
ziggomatic i can't get to the end of it in one listen
without missing something. and if you get distracted by a
second you miss a lot of scenes.

well.. what i'm saying is that you should try to listen..
really listen, to those amazing tracks on drukqs.

drukqs is OK-ish, but while some tracks are truly
outstanding, it doesn't seem to hold up well as a whole -
it's a bit too all over the place, and given its 2CD scope,
there's quite a lot of filler.

the way the more aggressive tracks are spaced between the
hushed, piano-driven pieces is rather annoying. i'd much
rather that the beat-oriented stuff was on one disc and all
of the quiet tracks on the other.

i really expected far better material after windowlicker,
which was a top tune! besides that, it drukqs pales in
comparison to the songcraft of the 'richard d. james album'

gah, enough with that "you havent been paying attention"
crap.

it depends on the listeners perception. any person could say
"you havent been paying attention" just to reinforce their
own opinion on the matter, or to make people "see the
light".

countless people say the same exact thing to me about their
special band. i take all of their opinions and toss them out
the window.

i HAVE been paying attention. and i still think its less
than amazing.

i dont care if you think drukqs is amazing, just dont say
someone doesnt "get it" when its clearly just your opinion.

not really, inspiration is all relative, anyone could say
the same about patti smiths new cd, or garth brooks, well ..
huh too bad if you dont get it cause it inspired me to take
up the art of sucking at making music, or it helped me
design some crappy logo. woope!yyyyyy!!

you should look... and i'm confident you'll find it. i'm not
saying is something heaveanly that only some chosen poeple

when i say you haven't been paying attention it's exactly
that YOU HAVEN'T BEEN PAYING ATTENTION TO A FUCKING WORD

Nah man ....you can cram a track full of detail till the
cows come home but it still doesn't make it a wicked track.

Half the drill tracks sound the same to me, and trust me I
am a fucking drill n bass head to the max. I lvoe pusher's
Go Plastic, but drukqs just doesn't do it for me at all.
Sometimes it's coll but I'm just not really down with it.

It's hard to say, mostly the sounds and the way he priograms
as all single hits, liek a bar is divided ito 16 steps,
right? He does drill (in this album anyways) a lot fo the
time with just a different drum hit on every
note...personally I prefer drill with spaces between hits
and occasionally double hits or 4 hits on the step (ie speed
rushes etc).

BTW..
Ppl shouldn't try to argue and say "but but" coz you can't
really convince someone to liek an album if they don't liek
it - there is no "You're not listening to it right".

Also everyone's views are opinions here, there is no real
definitive GOOD or BAD in the issue.

It's all taste, innit.

offline od_step_cloak from Pleth (Australia) on 2003-07-24 22:38 [#00793012]
Points: 3803 Status: Regular

Also there isn't enough real music behind it for me,
(talking about the drill tunes here) a lot of the time it's
just dark key hits every so often and I'm not really into
that.
And when he does riffs (liek in vordhosbn? from memory) they
kind of tend to just repeat for the hwole song mostly.

And I'm not really down with the piuano tracks. just kidn of
boring ot me :/

I think it all comes down to the whole ":feel" of the album
- don't get me wrong I love his early drill stuff -
laughable butane bob and everyday were just fucking
brilliant. I'd love it if he did more stuff liek those.

offline OK on 2003-07-24 23:10 [#00793019]

od the drums in druqks (drill tracks in disc 1) are made
with bars divided in 32 steps at least (i'd say even more).
with really minor (yet noticeable) shifts every now and
then.. so it really never repeats.

listen carefully.

and as the other drill trakcs (in disc 2) the beat just
eveolves as the tracks go.. with the drum sounds and rythm
at the end being something totally different.

wel bleah blah. the melodies do repeat themselves in several
tracks but.. i think it's because they're really one track.
one story from different angles.

ummm dude you can make the drums osound liek they are made
on bars of 32 by just using a 2 pattern combo

AND I never said they repeat. Read carefully.

BUT I'm not gonna get into that argument.

Listen - the point is that no matter how much you argue with
me I'm not gonna suddenly turn around and go "Oh shit you're
right! You argued me into likiung the album!"
It's not gonna happen.
