i just downloaded a film and the picture seems to run slower that the sound
anybody know how i can sort this out?

I've read about this and there seems to be no easy way around it. You'll probably have to split the file into audio and video, speed up the sound a fraction, and then join the files back together.
But more often the sound is just delayed so that you can correct it by moving the audiostream back or forth a second or two.
There can be other problems as well... Is your computer fast enough? If you have Win XP or 2000 you can go to the program manager and set the priority of the player to high, that can also sort out the problems.

do some searches on google and see what it says.
last resort is simply to find another version of the movie and get that one.

Many use a free program called "Virtual Dub" but it's still no easy thing to pull off.

id give ffdshow a try... it renders all the divxs and xvid s and other mpeg4s its opensource + good just do a search on google for ffdshow or here

get the pink one
i find it very good, especially on less powerfull machines.
