Something Snares was saying over on WATMM just made me
think of this film...
Anyone seen it?
I remember another film with James Duval - Was set in some
high school with this alien going around killing his friends
- Anyone that one?

i thought this was going to be about the goth teen angst
movie "the doom generation".. one of the movies i've been
wanting to see for years but strangely enough no stores
stock it

I think that is what it is meant to be about along with the
Robert Duval alien in a school film which i haven't saw
either.

have you seen gummo or crumb? those are 2 more i've been
wanting to see for years but can't locate in rental stores.

Gummo is soooo good. Definatly one of my favorite movies...

You must have crappy video stores...

i do. blockbuster and hollywood video and since i don't live
in an "arty" area (i actually live in a pretty poor area
that's mostly ethnic or african-american) they don't carry
too many out-there films. i'm lucky my college has some for
24 hour borrowing, but not everything i want. i might just
buy gummo since people talk so highly of it, but crumb and
the doom generation i'll just keep checking stores..

Yeah I was refering about the Greg Araki movie actually.
I can't believe it's so hard to get hold of over there! You
can get them on Amazon apparently... Seriously well worth
seeing, all of his movies.

Found out the other one's called Nowhere.

Good movie...very very dark and disturbing. Quite similar to
Requiem For A Dream in tone, not content.

And the doom generation is nothing like requiem for a
dream... sooo different. not even the same feel .. not in
the least.

Did you prefer requiem for a dream then? It didn't really do
that much for me.

i thought requiem was really good.

Yeah, a lot of my mates really rate that film - I just
didn't really click with it so well.
Not really into any of the cast or the overall look of that
one - Interesting ideas though - Although I didn't really
like the way they did those drug-induced hallucination
bits...
Now THE TRIP! Anyone seen that one?! It was only recently
unbanned, was actually made in the 60's... That's got some
of the best acid induced hallucinations of any film I've
ever seen.
In fact, apart from the first five minutes, the whole film
is an acid trip.
That film's got some of the best scenes I've ever seen in
any movie - I don't think anyone who hadn't taken a lot of
acid would get it atall though...

ehhh doom generation... i saw that like 3 years ago... i
thought it was horrible... but, that was 3 years ago... so
maybe i just didnt "get it" at the time... but i thought it
was a pile of poo poo

requiem was brilliant; so was mullholland drive, probably
the two fucked up movies i've seen recently.

anybody seen life of david gale recently? brilliant movie.

I liked both films... ofcourse requiem has more emotion.

I love rose mcgowan so the doom gen was one of my favs...

quite to my surprise i found it last night in a 95 cent
rental store... i really enjoyed this film! at first i
thought, wow this is some terrible acting and stiff
dialogue, but it got better. i saw the unrated director's
cut, and at least this version was rather daring and also
very realistic (the way they talk as well as the teenage
meaningless promiscuity and senseless criminality). the
ending was the most daring thing of the film. very wicked
and quite sad. so all in all, this was a lot better than i
expected all these years.

That ending is absolutely insane! hehe
That's why Snares suddenly reminded me of it.. he was
talking about Nazi's and anal sex (hehe) and Doom Generation
just sprung to mind!
There's just something about the whole style and feel of
Araki's movies that I love. Glad you digged it anyway!
