Lars Ullrich:

"It's nothing personal against them. We intend to enforce
our rights with any band intending to use Metallica-branded
chords in the future."

jeeeeesus!!!

I think we should have a project.

Call it "Project: Fuck Metallica"

We will go through CDs of old music, from before Metallica
was around, and find similiar things. Then we will take them
to court.

offline corticalstim from Canada on 2003-07-16 12:29 [#00781883]

next they will be suing people for using guitar solos in
their songs - because WE ALL KNOW that metallica was the
first to use guitar solos - just like the E and F chords

this seriously seriously made me loose ALL respect for
them.

not even a tiny bit of respect now.

They are morons.

And my evil roommate is thier biggest fan. Fancy that... hes
a moron too!

the continued use of the two chords causes "confusion,
deception and mistake in the minds of the public"

Ha !

from any song using them.
"

what a greedy fucking bastard.

to Metallica.com... Scoopthis? Then actually GO to
Metallica.com... nothing about the chords there.

Hoax?

to quote someone from another message board:

"On behalf of the estate of Johann Sebastian Bach, I am
suing both Metallica and unfaith for using a 12-tone scale
to create their music.

My client's innovations were a profound step forward from
the near-monotony (in the literal sense of one tone) of
Gregorian Chants (all rights reserved by the estate of Pope
Gregory).

To prevent confusion and stem a potential tide of further
litigation, we have obtained the licensing rights to the
concept of "music" from the collective estates of the Cave
People who used to rhythmically bang rocks together."

yeah, that's pretty bad if it's true... however, I can
understand them sueing napster and such... I would to if I
was in their position... basically, napster provided and
easy way for people to steal their music... if it was my
music, and I paid loads of money to make it, I wouldn't like
it either...

oh yes....a chord change from E to F is so genius, only
Metallica could have thought of this. If this is true then I
bet they've done this because so many songs have an E chord
followed by and F chord.

Now I am speechless...

lol, it just speaks volumes that people, (included myself)
believed this for a little bit

I mean, after it's all said and done, it didn't strike me as
IMPOSSIBLE for Metallica to do something so selfish.

I bet you 100 to 1 that lars comes back and sues this
website for defamation of name, etc.

THAT would be too funny.

ack! I retract I retract!

I love Lars, James----have my children!

---------
what's funny is that in real life, James always give off the
vibe of being very friendly and kind. Everytime I see him
he is smiling and eager to please.

James reminds me of the warehouse manager at one of my
clients. He doesn't seem like someone who'd be famous.

Lars on the other hand reminds me of the Gabor sisters or
Ivana trump - plain old nasty. I wouldn't want to be a clerk
waiting on Lars.

Lars has never come into the store, but when James does, he
is always patient and polite, just like any other customer.

Metallica can suck me off though, but if he asked, I'd
prolly say they rocked :D

why even bother to discuss something that is already dead
and halfways buried, i.e metallica.. they do retarded things
all the time; like releasing albums for instance.. how silly
is that?

I'm not gonna waste another keystroke in a metallica-related
thread; they're a bunch of silly old chaps,
who should have called it quits, when cliff the spliff got
bus-whacked back in '86

even though it is a hoax you must admit the line: "We're not
saying we own the E chord, or even the F" is pretty funny.
haha i love that "OR EVEN the F"
