you know that one part where you hear the sample of richard
(it may be someone else, maybe tom junkinson because that
same sample is in a []P track also) shouts "ROIGHT" behind
your right ear?

i love that part, its gets me every time - i always look
behind me if i am unexpecting it :P - especially because my
name is Ron and it sometimes sounds like he is saying my
name :D

but yeah - awesome mind trickery there

that's an amazing track. the production really works a
number on my head.
especially that second door slam or whatever it is.. so loud
and sudden and realistic sounding.
I read that to get the tinny effect on the music he recorded
it as it played out of his speakers. not a difficult
technique, but creative.

well - there are some really simple things you can do with
reverbs to get the almost exact sound effect he used

offline J Swift from United Kingdom on 2003-07-16 06:22 [#00781338]

He's recording that track through a mic'ed up speaker/guitar
amp - I recon!
Sounds really nice though - Maybe he's using two mic's to
get a real stereo effect or something.

"shouts "ROIGHT" behind your right ear?"

> now that you mentioned it i can't help but thinking how
dumb it would be if he shouted "LOIFT" behind your left
ear... ha... yeah, i am dumb too ' _ -

offline Spacecadet on 2003-07-16 06:49 [#00781363]

i think it's not a sound effect, it sounds like a field
recording like, a mic set up in a studio, cos you can hear
him slamming a door while the drums are playing

i've done it on tracks before, you loop it so it goes into
your 'real' recording and sounds pretty good

ghahaha tom junkinson

its done by reversing the speakers so that they are used as
microphones!

Yes, that is in '4' .. it's interesting how each person has
these ideas of what they're saying in these samples.
It could be 'ricky.. yep' but I always thought he was saying
'pretty good' like evolume suspected. interesting.
oh yeah. i also like the way he laughs through his name in
the background too.
'Aaayhayhayphex Twiiin'

That's done using the Voice "Hysterical" on a MAC in
something like Simpletext.

You have to type in Aiphex Twin then press say it, and it
will say it with that voice. You can't type in Aphex Twin
otherwise it says "Affix Twin" sorta.

ie. it works on the sound of the word, rather than the
spelling.

a creaking noise as if someone stepping on a
floorboard...the mind boggles
jeez im sad

Ah yes, I remember hearing this now.
Me and my cousin used to mess around with Simpletext when he
had a mac, and before I knew about aphex twin :*(
