merzbow is an epic noise genius
but it's real genuine noise not edgelevel popscience music
like autechre. just noise
and I like it
but most people think it's ugly I suppose

well, loudness doesnt equal noise unless you clip and muddle
everything to fuck. i mean, most idm has literal "noise" in
it. but afx and venetian snares have melodies and rhythmic
structures (though, to be fair, some of them are masked more
than others)

Get Maldoror. It features Merzbow and Mike Patton. It's just
insane. I listen to it maybe twice per year, but somehow I
always seem to enjoy it..

Hmm.. maybe that means I'm insane too :O

when u say noise: u mean like white noise
an artistic sophisticated version of v/vm

aaargh, that really sounds exactly like what i always
imagined merzbow would sound like!

I can hardly tolerate listening to it (had the speakers
turned down to almost silence, and it still hurts my
ears). I wish i could enjoy it, because hearing people talk
about him always makes me curious. And it's just a
fascinating guy i guess, his views on music and with the
ridiculous size of his discography :-p
But this is really not for me i'm afraid.

Go see him live! You'll have a whole new perspetive on noise
after a live Merzbow-experience. I guess most people simply
don't have a soundsystem suitable for listening to Merzbow
on record. Be sure to bring along your earplugs tho..
