 | i noticed something last night...it's actually been bubbling away in my head for a while and just came to total
fruition...has anyone else here noticed similarities between
the melodies of ae's vletrmx from garbage and radiohead's
pyramid song from amnesiac?...here's what i mean...listen to
both, paying attention to the structure of the melodies to
see what i mean...and the kicker is that they both use chord
progression that steps up, up, up then down, down,
down...when i first heard pyramid song i noted this and
guessed that that's where it got it's name (if you picture
the notes written out on a scale it would make a picture of
a series of pyramids)...it's the same with vletrmx...except
last night i thought hard about the name of this ae
song...v-letter mix?...if the melodies laid out it would
make a series of v's (or at least that's how ae see it
maybe)?...is this a little far fetched?...it seemed to make
so much sense when i discovered it last night, and i KNOW
thom yorke knows this ae song...i mean if he's any sort of
fan at all--which i do believe he is--he'd have much
knowledge and respect for this, one of ae's
 masterpieces...just a thoughts

 | yeah, radiohead's christmas webcast was awesome (wish somebody bloddy ripped it, agh).

they did a 2 or 3 hour set of thom and some other dude in
radiohead mixing stuff. LOTS of ae, lots of squarepusher.
they're serious idm fans (but their most recent albums make
 that obvious, eh)

 | Am I the only one who's been annoyed to no end by Radiohead lately? They've gone so far up their own, err, arses. Thom
Yorke mainly. He must think that he has to croon his
horrible voice over every decent track so people will like
 it.. anyway, that's another story.
Thom Yorke admittedly is a fan, and his admiration has had
several obvious incarnations.. Idioteque and that track
towards the end of the new LP come to mind.
However, I think your discovery is actually pretty
interesting. I wonder if it was a conscious effort to
emulate or whether it just happened...

 | thom yorke did ask autechre to tour with them once. it was in that interview with autechre that was on warp. i think it
was the live one where fans asked the questions. autechre
declined, obviously, and didn't give much insight into why
in the interview. if i remember, they said something like
'it just didn't happen' or 'it wasn't something we felt like
 doing at the time'.
