i don't hear voices...

But instead i see patterns in my head. No two patterns are
alike, and they depend on the structure of the track...

There's a sound in The Chemical Brother's Private
Psychedelic Reel that sounds just like my mother shouting my
name up the stairs. The times it's caught me out is truly
unbelievable.

There's also a sound in a Markant track that's just like the
noise my mobile phone makes when it vibrates. Again, it's
always fooling me.

Bastard.

i don't hear anything that isn't in the track. but sometimes
i feel the music has some characteristics that it isn't
supposed to have (at least most people think so). i mean,
there's a track by vangelis (i think the end titles to blade
runner) that sounds kinda... yellow. most boc sounds green,
and tricky's maxinquaye album feels wet and brown most of
the time. tool's eulogy sounds like an empty gray hallway.
and, mind you, i'm totally awake and not on dope.

actually, most sounds have a color or associate with some
form in my mind. it may seem wierd but it adds a whole new
layer of experience to music.

Ahaha, actually, I could swear I hear voices in a tune I
made a while ago. And I hear that weird voice-like noise
everytime I listen to it. It's not intentional. Maybe a
demon?

THE PARAPSYCHIC ACOUSTIC RESEARCH COOPERATIVE or PARC.

EVP - otherwise known as Electronic Voice Phenomena.

there are some mp3s to download here - ->

pretty trippy shit.. check it out..

---------------------------------------
"Friedrich Jürgenson [1903-1987], along with Konstantine
Raudive, was one of the earliest pioneers of EVP recording.
Attempting to record birdsong in his garden on the latest
tape recorder, Jürgenson found stray voices cutting in to
the recordings when noone else was present. Later he started
to recognise some of the voices, including his mother, who
used her pet nickname for him. He was also a philosopher,
painter, archaeologist, linguist and singer; court painter
to Pope Pius X11, film documentary maker and recording
artist. He lived through and witnessed the Russian
Revolution, two world wars, the destruction of the old
European order and the arrival of the technological age,
bridging the gap between times when information was handed
down by word of mouth and the modern era of taperecorders
and televisions. Thus did he straddle the last century."

one day, would have been about 8 years or so ago, me and a
mate were recording some noise (not realy music but horrible
sound-scapes) and we picked up a cb chanel (short wave radio
or what ever it is.
he had about 8 things conected to a shitty old mixer.. i
started hearing some talking. dissmissed it for a while then
said to my friend, can you hear voices.. lol he said yep..
thought it was just me. so we stopped making noise for a
while and heard some lady talking to us.. lol.. we must have
been blocking this channel for hours..
anyway.. i plugged my headphones into the mic hole in the
mixer and used them as a mic.. lol we got a conversation
going with her and all.. lol she even asked us if we were
some dude that we knew at school.. lol we got paranoid and
turned our equipment off..

but fuck.. was the weirdest experience.. i think my mate
still has that recording on tape.. would be cool to listen
to again..

okay. this scares me...

i just recorded radio noise from an empty AM channel. i know
i know.. everything sends out electromagnetic waves
nowadays, even my discman makes funny noises on AM bands
(once used it in a track)

i recorded 5 minutes, and theres some odd noises on the
tape.. spectral image shows that its voice like

good. anyway.. EVP maker

they claim it can be used to generate voices out of noise
input.. or whatever

i dont believe a shit of supernatural stuff.. but i cant
deny i find it scary

There's about half a second in Windowlicker that sounds like
my mum shouting me from downstairs..

There was a BBC documentary on TV maybe a year ago where
these people would put regular tape/MD recorders by their
beds at night or in an empty room during the day and record
what the mic picks up. When they listen back to it there's
these voices talking about stuff on the tape, even though
there was no-one around the whole time. Some of them claim
that they're voices of people they know, some are
strangers.
The bit about these people recording their room while they
sleep and hearing these recorded voices during playback
later really freaked me out. They say the voices were saying
stuff about them as they slept. Sometimes there were dozens
of voices.

very funny, how this "afx trick" worked out (because i think
it was ment that way).
i also thought my mother was calling me from downstairs the
first time i heard it,..and at that moment i even didnt live
at home anymore, and still it gave me that anoying
feeling(that you can feel in your chest) in a reflex i
pulled of my headphones,..silly me %-\
