yeah there we're some terrible ones up on that poll. I'm surprised that Zeus' didn't make it. It was pretty good, not the best, but I think it might of had a chance.
After hearing all mixes once (whilst stoned) I've narrowed it to these:
13,96,110,141

man, its been like, how long since the due date?
In retrospect, there are a good # of things Id change in the mix, so Im not worried about not making it. I see things now that I think could be alot better (like the break down in the middle etc)

To be honest, it sounds like something they would do themselves which is a good thing but the downpoint is it's not that original, mind you it is a remix.

Zeus: this is the first that i've downloaded of you (i have 56k so i don't download very much from here, which makes me feel guilty) but i think that you do ambient so is this not typical of your sound? i really like the song, it is deffinitely much better and more listenable than the original (though probably not as technically advanced). i agree with skink in that it doesn't sound TOO original since it sounds like you mainly cut up the original and re-assembled it.
maybe tomorrow i will download an original track of yours. what would you recomend?

meh, i don't know. i think the remixes in the top 15 were generally good but nothing out of the ordinary. and maybe people generally like stuff that's within the lines of familiarity. anything outside of it seems too weird, too foreign - offensive? :)
not that there's anything wrong with that, but it can make the people that are outside of that circle of comfort realize that they can only please .0001% of their potential listeners. that's how shit works i guess.

plus, everyone has their own idea of what a remix consists of. listening to a lot of autechre's own 'remix' interpretations, it can range from being pretty close to the original to nothing like it at all. personally, i like when someone really does a number on a track and basically reinterprets what is given. basically creating something completely different. that's cuz i like different. and i know you can alter a few digital notes here and there and claim it's different, but i mean REALLY different. :)

btw, zeus, i really enjoyed your remix. i think it was more suited to my tastes than the ones in the top 15. just cuz it's weird and makes me feel crazy. i like crazy. crazy is good. a little bit of crazy in your medication goes a long way...

and another thing, i dont see what the big deal is on cutting up a track and then reusing it's bits and pieces? why is that bad or somehow technically less-challenging? doesn't it all boil down to whether it sounds good? stop being technical nazis! :)

when people say remix, I expect there to be lots of source material... but again, we all have our own interpretations.
this remix is about 80-90% made up from the original track. I did DSP etc, to change it in some places.
The only real thing not from the track, is the synth in the middle, and like, one or 2 drum sounds.

Agreeing much with what's been said so far... nice mix, not that original, though.
Jenf's mix... I'm not atall keen on the opening synths. The melody's nice, but the synths themself are very cliché and a little annoying. However, the rest of the track is excellent, I think. The way it all ends up as chaos... lovely. :)

Nice work, i was dissapointed by the ones on the poll, not that they were bad but that it was so heavily biased towards an early autechre synthy sound. Electronic music has moved on beyond that, i would have like to see some more modern interpretations of some of those older songs instead....
any way heres mine.... www.officerock.com/Audio/CaseyBasichis-vosein.mp3

I didn't submit any remix because I have no autechre music and know little of them. I heard some of their work and I guess it's not my thing really.
