not a probelm :)

I first heard it about a year ago, bought it for about £5
cos i really liked the sleeve. first listen was weird, it
was easily the oddest music i'd ever heard, so i kinda
shelved it for a while, but now i LOVE it!

one thing that happens to me with drukqs is that I cannot
listen to it just once... whenever I listen to it, I do it
more than one time each cd

Going back to the original question try Ovuca Onclements it
is a double CD album on rephlex CAT 104. It is unique,
querky and banging.

this album is so brilliant, its going to be difficult for
anyone to come close imo
its going to be hard for rdj aswell, to come up with a
masterpiece like drukqs... i wish it would happen tho

I lent it to my mate who usually only listens to "normal"
drum and bass. I think he blew a valve listening to it.

how about Chris Clark?

........i've just remembered.......
magnetophone with the album 'i guess sometimes i need to be
reminded of how much you love me' are unique for me [and the
album title unique too.....']

Excuse me, I don't get it. Stop the bus, what is soo! great
about chris clark. I have heard all of his released stuff.
Saw him @ glastonbury.
What is the big deal. Give him 10 years. It is not afx or
pusher. Bristol is the nearest big city to where I live.
Clarks stomping ground. He is just an afx disciple putting
his own twist on shit is is nothing to wet your pants about.
LISTEN TO SAW 1+2. I am sure that is all the clarkey boy did
before unloading his musical masturbation upon us. Chill.
Peace.

P.S I am listening to clarence park now thinking it is not
afx and I would be totally justified.

clarence park sounds pretty boring as well...i often get
this feeling (well, not that often as i dont listen to it
any more) that clark is trying to hard and because of this
he overdone it...i mean it sounds way to...kind of what they
were trying to do with astrobotnia, tho i like astrobotnia a
little better - i dont know the right expression for
clarence park - perhaps too sweet (but in a bad way hehe).

so which album yould you say comes closest to druqks?

(im pretty sure you'll recommend something by autechre hehe)

by the sounds of things nacmat most people would disagree.

Yeeking is better than clark. Pusher let him rinse it,
enough said. How about freekin Ceephax, Team Doyobi + Mike
Dred. And the undisputed underrated heavyweight champion of
the world. Vibert/Plug/WagonChrist/Amen Andrews.

its hard to come close to drukqs... I wont recomend any
autechre as confield would be my choice and I know you like
it... its not at the same level, but I am really enjoying
prefuse 73 lately... its an album that gives more and more
each time I listen to it.. its like idm hip hop... (one word
extinguisher)

AFX / Autechre don't compare. Different sides of the same
coin. apples and oranges which are better, depends on your
mood.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-07-10 11:26 [#00773160]

yeeking is pretty good

dont know about Ceephax, Team Doyobi + Mike Dred

and i like vibert's soup album, but i like his wagonchrist
stuff a little less

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-07-10 11:29 [#00773166]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

hmm, prefuse is really not my thing

i like folk songs for trains he did as savath+savalas pretty
much tho

surely afx and autechre cant compare, but autechre's music
is pretty unique as well imo

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-07-10 11:38 [#00773182]

im listening to 51/13 now, and i love this one as well
some people often complain about afx going commercial, but
honestly i wouldnt mind if he was the most mainstream artist
in the world...as long as he keeps doing music like this
there are many artists that are trying to do something for
the people - this is most obvious at the gigs where many
artists are performing - they seem to try hard, but honestly
when afx starts playing its like he's from another
planet...at the venue it must have something to do with his
myth, but when i listen to those bootlegs at home...there's
always something that gets my attention in his live
performances (surely he done some bad ones, but i havent
heard any of those yet hehe)

Plug is best from vibert even though it is getting a bit
long in the tooth. It was we he was trying to break america
(the last last time). You know pre 1993. When americans said
' jungle music, is that made by black people. That's
racist.' It is a good job the word D'N'B was invented. Come
to think of it probably not now that Americans are listening
to old skool jungle.
Buy some ceephax, now. It's pushers little bruvver Andy.
Nice old skool acid basslines.
I am listening to cryptoburners team doyobi now. They beat
Autechre hands down last I saw them play as support. They
are on Skam.
Peace I am off down the boozer check you all tomorrow

hmm, yeah, i should check vibert much more (i was planing on
doing that!)
but his albums are pretty hard to get...well i'll try my
luck

and if ceephax is at least half as talented as pusher i'll
give him a try as well :)

team doyobi i heard pleanty about, but i cant remember if i
ever heard any music- i'll check this as well

thanks!

Nearly two years later and we just CAN'T shut up about it...
good.

The only electronic album I like more than Drukqs (and only
about 75% of the time, Drukqs tops the list the other
quarter) is Confield.

Drukqs > Smojphace, yo!
