anything is art to anyone. what im saying is that art is a
personal opinion really, ANYTHING can be art, there is no
real defenition of "Art".

surley there should be some intention behind Art... it can't
just be something that has natural beauty... does it perhaps
infer some kind of creative input?

Good art should match your sofa.

Art can also be dogs playing poker, or a sad clown.

art is personal, and the artist only thinks of himself
(herself) when creating it.Only the artist knows what the
work means.

I suppose I should have said "art is personal" but it
doesn't get across what I cannot explain.

This could be considered as performance art. They
didn't intend it that way, but I say it is, so it's what you
call your "found" art.

Anything can be art. I declare the entire full spectrum
multiverse as art.

i wouldnt say that

firstly im often thinking about other people when im
painting.. art itself isnt selfish, but a person can
certainly go in there with selfish motives.

also i think some of the magic of art is how it will mean
something different to each person that encounters it

worded differently perhaps :) i wonder why you said
'selfish' then

seems to me that a work can mean more than just what the
artist themself thinks it does

art generally considers an action. and commonly from a
transformations of things. taking a and turning it into b,
for aesthethical purposes.

art is a personal representation of something presented to
inspire.

"You should not paint the chair, but only what someone has
felt about it."
Edvard Munch.

i have art at http://nichols.deviantart.com/ and will do cd
covers for free if u need them for your music.

Its not that complicated; art is some one expressing
themselves into some form, and other people have emotion
induced into them through it.

"creative activity concerned with the production of
aesthetic objects or of beauty in general"

i think it provides a good reflection of emotions.. so i
would call it an end result.. or a product i suppose

Exactly - the definition of art is arbitrary, which means
that I and I alone am correct.

each 'artform'

so we can go back to a previous question here

that being whether an essential component of art is
awareness

i believe it is.. dadaists tried to 'destroy' art by
breaking down creativity into chance.. however all that was
achieved was another tangent of awareness..

and the 'art' shifted more into thoughtfulness than instant
gratification

i know people who already did that with hundreds of barbies
(they melt great!) and become nice pieces of art.
