Hey guys. I'm being a cheap bastard (due to school debts), and I'm trying to hook up my Xbox, and my PC to the same set of speakers. All I need is a 3.5mm y-adapter, and some cables.
Providing that I don't play music from two different sources at once (i.e. the Xbox AND the PC), what do you think my chances of shorting-out some Yamaha 35W powered speakers will be?
That damn Xbox won't play CD-Rs, and hence the reason that I either have to buy a new set of speakers, a discman that plays CD-Rs, or try this funky setup and use my existing speakers for both Xbox gaming AND listening to music on my PC (which DOES play CD-R). Confusing?
Thanks for the help dudes.

it should be able to handle it as long as you only play one item at a time on a device.. then sure shouldnt over do it.

I don't have to unplug anything or turn off the computer right?
My PC stays on 24/7. If I just keep the Xbox turned off during PC music playing I should be okay?

My PC is about 12 feet away from my speakers. THink I should invest in some decent cables? Monster cables cost more than a new set of speakers!! (Yamaha speakers that is).
Decisions....decisions....decisions....

You don't need REALLY thick cable but a nice thickness is always worth it. Anything thicker than the supplied shit is good.

Monster cables are ridiculous in Canada (like 80 bucks worth of ridiculous). I'm thinking that I might stick with the Radioshit stuff. So slim chances on the shorting-out eh?

So just use some cheap cables for now?
We're talking 35W Yamaha powered speakers here. They sound good for a small apartment, but if expensive cables aren't going to make a hell of a difference than screw it.
As long as you don't think I'll short-out anything, I'll give it a shot.

I doubt you will short anything out man, ive done similar things when I was hard pressed for money, you know how it is. it wont make it sound much better for where you are.

Does this mean that I have to turn my PC off when I want to play the Xbox?
