cities are expensive,

the closer you get to them the more money you need to spend.

income tax here is also fucked, depending on how much you
earn, you can get roughly 25% of your pay taken out, I I'm a
high income earner, so I get slugged with the full
amount....

It's like getting punished for working

"the harder you work, the more we take"

Yep, it's a fucker, especially as youd be spending the extra
money in ways that'd be taxed (if only in VAT etc.) anyway
if you had it all. I'm all for a "one point" of taxation-
perhaps a 30% VAT type tax on all good or services,
but no other taxes. It'd be a lot more transparent (you
could work out what percentage of your money goes to the
government exactly) and due to the lack of beauracracy the
cost of running it would be less, no tax forms for normal
people to mess about with, the wealthy would still be
"taxed" more as they'd spend more etc.

what I think is fucking greedy are the hidden taxes, I'll
explain:

several years ago deisel fuel was rather cheap, I think it
was around 40c a litre or something small like that, then
the government decided to suddenly put the tax on deisel up
and made it cost about $1 a litre, which was all just extra
money going to the government,

now here's where it gets tricky,

all of the trucks that deliver anything that needs
delivering (i.e. almost every single thing you buy) was now
costing fuck loads more to transport, most truckies went out
of business, which made transport in more demand, this made
the prices of any goods transported by trucks (almost
everything) skyrocket, which meant that the 10% tax they get
on everything else slightly higher too, thus giving the
government even more money.

tricky fuckers they are, all of them politicians

Yep, a lot of people seem not to realise how vast the amount
of money the government get is-

out of your earnings they take a cut of tax, what remains
you spend, each of these things of course being taxed
themselves. Thing is, the people providing those
goods/services are also taxes as are all the people who make
the components that make up those goods or services...

Say for example you buy a £10 record, aside from the intial
vat, the govt. also get tax from: the wages of the person in
the store who sold it to you, the tax on the power
station/gas station/water service that provided the
facilities to the record store (and naturally the wages of
the people at them), all the companies that provided the
stands, lighting, poster etc. to make them. Then consider
all similair stuff for the record label, pressing plant,
artist, mastering studio, haulage company that shipped it
there, etc.

Trace back all the "component" taxes on something like a CD
and I'm sure the goverment must get well over 50% of the
face value on it... >:-(

I've had it to the fucking limit with tax. The amount payed
is criminal and I don't see it going anywhere. I'm not going
to get a pension at the end of it. I've never received
benefits of any kind from the government and I rarely use
the services. What pisses me is that if you work for the NHS
then you're being paid in Tax money. So effectively you're
paying yourself. There's so many taxes out there that it's
impossible to know what's a tax and what's not.
I'm pleased to know that I got one over the tax man last
year. The company that I own filed a tax report saying that
the company made no money. Not strictly true as I was the
only employee so we just set my salary at the amount that
would make the company look in a £100 debt at the end of
the year. Fucking a I say. Fully legal too. W0rd to your
mamma.

Yep tax avoidance via consultancy is the way to go- fair
enough, I use the roads, I pay road tax for that... also
I'm protected by the forces. I've also used the NUS a few
times and get eye checks free as there's a history of
glycoma in my family. However, I have no children so I don't
use schools, I don't use community centres, libraries, etc.
I've never claimed benefits, I don't want to put
money into a state pension as I know I'll never see any of
it, I don't live in council accomodation etc.

Despite getting whacked an extortianate rate for council tax
(which I cleverly avoid by living with 3 students mwahaha!)
the bins are not collected as it's a private terrace so we
end up having to (illegally) dump all our rubbish down a
back alley nearby.

Giginger: Yes, I've often wondered about being a government
employee- if you're paid with tax money, why not save on
admin costs by simply paying you less and just not taxing
you?

Or better still just not taxing us! That's get rid of the
Nurse shortage as well.
