If you are interested in an idea to make "fractal beats"
and a text walkthrough to make them in modpug tracker using
one of my sample tracks, I figured out how to send them
through email. Post your email and I'll send it to you. You
need about 900 k of free space in your email account.

By "fractal beats" I mean beats using three simultaneous
octaves (scaling symmetry) such as these:

"celsius fair enough"
"my bloody vacuum cleaner 2"
"4 rooms 4 walls"

I should have sent everyone 2 emails (I had to divide it
into 2 parts to send it- both are about 700k...) except
for:

(JAroen)
vaagisdecrewAThotmail.com- your inbox is too full to accept
either part of my email attachments. Let me know if this
problem is fixed, if you are still interested.

(aphexchrist)
digiphex20@hotmail.com- I only sent part 1. You still need
part 2 but your inbox was too full to send it. Let me know
when there's enough space (about 700k) if you're still
interested.

i don't really think this method is straight up fractal
beats. it kind of makes sense. but maybe a fractal beat
should just get increasingly faster while keeping the same
length of time (per section per speed)

I emailed both parts to everyone who posted their email so
far, except for:

djxammax(AT)hotmail(DOT)com- Let me know when there's 700k

nao15863(AT)students(DOT)northa...etc- the college email
system blocked part two because they do not allow executable
files (for security reasons I guess.)

Well, it's convenient to name the technique something. And
there is indeed "scaling symmetry" (only 3 scales of 200%
though with 3 octaves) which is the definition of a fractal.

There are other ways to create scaling symmetry, such as the
way you described. In that way though, the loops shrink each
repitition and since fractals tend to decrease/increase
exponentially, you'd soon end up with a tone of
indistinguishable noise, or silence which would make you
have to restart every time it diminished. Regardless of
whether or not the "triple-octave-beat" technique I make is
a fractal, I like the intricate complexity it produces, and
it keeps going on constantly without diminishing.

I'm surprised how many people were interested in this. If
anyone has any questions or problems, let me know. Also if
anyone makes a track using the technique (or some
variation), I'd like to hear it.

These people still need part two:

wdonohue(AT)hotmail(DOT)com-
djxammax(AT)hotmail(DOT)com-
nao15863(AT)students(DOT)northa...etc-

If anyone else is interested, just post your email. (I'll
wait a day or so to send it to you fuzzie, in case anyone
else wants it so I can send a single email to everyone at
once.)

Here are some things I forgot:

Whenever you want to make a new track in modplug, go to file
and select new "IT". Just use "IT", not the other ones.

Also, making "fractal beats" tends to somewhat randomly mix
certain parts of the beat with other parts (of a
lower/higher octave). This means it is usually good to have
everything in the same pitch. Melodies don't work well with
this technique because the organization ends up placing
simultaneous awkward notes together usually.

I think I'll wait for feedback from people who have already
downloaded it to see if it is worth sending to more people.
I should note that these "fractal beats" have only 3 scales,
so they're not really super intricate detailed
fractals. It is possible to make additional scales by
increasing the number of simultaneously played octaves of
the beat, but I've found that 3 simultaneous octaves has the
best, (least over-cluttered) results. Again, it is just a
easy-to-follow text walkthrough of a technique to make
tracks like the ones I made here:

http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/wmw/ (ex. "my bloody
vacuum cleaner 2")

So if you don't think this type of construction is
interesting, there's no reason to bother.

I never received the second "Fractal Beats" email containing
the modplug tracker. If you could, please send it to me
again. Try sending it to faaipdeoiad_666@iwon.com cause
hotmail seems to be blocking your emails or something.
Thanks alot, I appreciate it.
