i´m talkng about one hell of a gig i was at last night...
kid606 and DJ Rupture

This was end-of-tour gig featuring Random Number and local
chaps DMC and Thalumus too.
FUCk ME... this was where it was at.

Thalmus .. live trumpet sampling over gorgeous
laptop beatscapes.... Plaid ish but more bangin

DMC .... jungle to hard techno to gabba with highly
skilled laptop control giving lots of speed variations and
false buildups that just worked.
Very IDM ish throughout too. the Amen Andrews EP is said to
have the longest snarerush ever? I think DMC is trying to
beat it! Gabba that wasn´t dark too...

Random Number
Fucking A1 squelchy glitch with an Autechre-like edge. Pure
bliss and got the feet slowed down after DMC madness....
this Leeds chap is well worth seeing and we even bougt a CD
off him at the end. Recomended!

DJ Rupture
We´ve all been hearing of the latest resurge of dancehgall
ragga with the Bug and Smodgphace and Amen andrews etc and
its great... well DJ Rupture is right on top of it with some
fucking killah ragga jungle tracks that got EVERYONE bopping
for a solid hour. If his gear hadn´t died for 5 mins half
way through, the floor would have spontaneously combusted.
He recovered, we had time to too and he mashed it up
again....This guy was rinsin! (who else could mix Lenny
Kravitz with ragga jungle?)

kid606
take the madness of VSnares, but soften it up and strip it
off jungleness and lash in familiar samples for just enough
time for the subconcious to register a "a-ha!"
the Kid kept it banging.... but to be hosest, you kind of
"got" what it was about after 20 mins and it got a little
boring. A pity as all the other acts before him were
consistently interesting. Maybe it was laptop fatigue?
afterall, we just had 4 hours of mental madness......

For quality that kept me on my toes all the time and had a
nice range of styles.. this was defo a gig of the year for
me. CHECK IT!

Yeah, man.....It blew my fuckin socks off.
I thought that DJ Rupture was gonna steal the show and be
the best, but his technical abillities on the turntables are
questionable.....that said, his tunes are shit hot.
but kid606.......oh shit!!!!!!!!!!
that was a surprise! i thought he was gonna be all deep and
noodly, but he absolutely rocked...!!!!!!
Probably one of my favourite gigs of all time!

ps: his cover of "anarchy in the uk" was a definete
highlight!!!!

he didn´t do that last night.. but yeah, one of the best
gigs i was ever at.......
tigerbeat6 stuff in general is fucking great and its good to
see the artists sitting at the back of the room selling
their albums as well....... no bullshit.
