OK Ok, I know irght off hand I am gonna catch a lotta
cracks for this topic....but I have to admit, guilty, I like
these guys...The FIRST 2 ALBUMS are pure rockin genius. Its
too bad the big H caught hold of Scott...He is a talented
songwriter and couldve put out more quality and less
CRAP...Plus his SOLO album is a trip in itself....

Anyways...1st 2 albums kick ass and will go down in history
as some of the best ROCK albums released in the 90's.
IMO...=)

love yall...be nice....

i heard they took the piss on their third one

i vividly recall the "vasoline" (sp?) video. those
Oktoberfest dancers were funny.

right on man...after the 2nd, they started to display thier
loss of quality...I mean there is a couple good songs in the
same spirit, but overall a dissapointment.

STP is the first band i ever listened to. Core and Purple
are probably some of the best rock albums ever made. Their
newer stuff isnt that bad, its just different. I still find
their music to be good.

You're right about purple, that is one of my favourite
rockalbums of all time. It's just perfect, almost all the
songs are fantastic. Especially "still remains", which is in
my top10 all time favourite list of songs.

I never liked Core as much as i did purple though. Some
great songs (plush, creep, sex type thing), but overal the
magic just isn't really there imo.

However i think Tiny Music is an excellent album! About half
of the songs are just great rocksongs like on purple (pop's
love suicide, tumble in the rough, big bang baby), and the
other half are more experimental, but nevertheless great
songs (artschool girl, and so i know (i'm particularly
fond of that one)
). The song Seven Caged Tigers is
another highlight in their career!

And have you even listened to #4? That is seriously a great
album. Much like purple, perhaps only a little darker. If
you didn't like the experimentation on Tiny Music i could
understand... but there are really not many differences
between purple and #4... i just love that album. It did not
get as much attention as it would have deserved!

The 5th one bored me though, i heard they were all happy
making that one. And they took lots of time and had a
positive atmosphere blah blah blah... and it shows :-p All
the passion is gone on that Shangri-la-dee-da-album.

Core sounds a bit too Pearl Jam but I loved Purple.

core is boring, i kind liked tiny music (about 5 or 6 years
ago)but no.4 was just rehash but not as bad as it was made
out to be, i never heard shangriladeeda(sp?)

and what about purple? What you think about that one?

"i never heard shangriladeeda(sp?)"

Shangri La DEE-DA (including caps)

You might as well skip it. 2 or 3 really great songs, but
mostly boring generic radiofriendly rockballads. Ugh...

Has anyone ever heard Talk Show? I'm curious of that
album... it's like STP but with a different singer.

Talk Show - yes, but I don't remember when or where. I do
definetly remember them being, what I would now compare to
Audioslave.

it's just not the same without the frontman.

Stero Temple Pirates was their original name too, then they
got smarter.

ugh, I can not fucking spell.

STEREO Temple Pirates: they wanted to use the old STP
sticker letters.

"Stero Temple Pirates"

Lol, well it's not like Stone Temple Pilots is the best name
in the world.
Infact i think i might prefer the Stereo Temple Pirates :-p

"it's just not the same without the frontman."

hm... that's what i feared :-/
Oh well. Maybe i'll find it reaaaaly cheap sometime. Than i
might get it to complete the collection.

Liked the first three albums, lost interest after that. Love
'Crackerman' from the debut (which is a probable cover song
for a new band I'm in), 'Interstate Love Song' (obviously),
'Angry Ants' and 'Unglued' from 'Purple' and of course
'Trippin On A Hole In A Paper Twat' or whatever it's called
from 'Tiny Music', a magnificent song.

"'Trippin On A Hole In A Paper Twat'"

You're right, that IS a great song! Just so intense...
ahh... i have to go listen to this album now.

"or whatever it's called"

well you almost got it right ;-)

I've said it before in this thread, but #4 is an amazing
album... you lost interest one album too soon buddy :-p

I got '4' on your advice, but I've never been in the mood to
listen to it... as my mate has been playing Crackerman at me
for days now ("Learn this! Learn this!") I should strike
while the iron's hot and all that gubbins.

No money wasted dude, I usually download something I'm
suspicious of first, then buy it later if it's whumping;
I'll give it a fair crack sometime this week :)

"No money wasted dude"

Okay then! Phew! :-p I was starting to feel really guitly
over here, hehe.

"I usually download something I'm
suspicious of first
"

Yeah, that's probably a smart move.

"I'll give it a fair crack sometime this week :)"

Okay then... i hope you'll find something in there you like
:-D It took me a couple of listens to get into it, and i'm
still not too crazy about the first track. But other
than that it's all good. Heaven & Hot Rods, I Got You ,
Pruno, Sex & Violence (!), Glide (!!)... too many great
songs to choose from :-D

i don't feel guilty saying i like them =o)

i have all their releases with the exception of CORE. i saw
them play live with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Scott was
quite animated and sounded GREAT.

i just hope he gets his life/act together. dunno how the
whole VELVET REVOLVER stuff will sound (the group name
SUXORZ) but i'll give it a listen!

velvet revolver? whats that?

talks how is way bad, never listen to it!

purple was pretty good too when i was in 5th grade and a
little after but ive long sold all the stp albums but theyre
not bad, especially compared to the music thats on
mainstream radio--theyre loads better than most of those
bands.

i liked them in high school. actually the first concert i
ever went to was STP and Butthole Surfers at the Mercer
Arena in Seattle. (with Firehose and Bass Head)

I've never found them terribly original, but for a pop band,
they are much better than the alterna-crap coming out these
days.

they always kinda reminded me of the band Bush. not in
sound necessarily but more in like 'pop philosophy' like
taking something sucessful (grunge) and sort of repackaging
it. know what i'm saying, G?

Respect to Iron Lung for voicing a potentially
flame-attracting opinion on a mb full of pretentious
opinionated high-brow 'quality' music appreciators. (myself
being one of them).
