Faces of death is quite, like many other mondomovies (e.g.
mondo cane), fabricated...

Some of the thrill (you said you don't see the point in
watching it) is that you believe what you watch is real...
but some obviously isn't.

Faces of Death vol 1 actually was more popular in the
theatres than Star Wars, when it was released in Japan (it
was only made to be released in Japan, but then got it's way
to the US anyway).

yaya... nobody cares anyway ;)

Got Punch Drunk Love the other day. Liked it a lot. PT
Anderson is a very gifted director. I like his style.

almost none of those are "cult" movies, cult means that few
people are obsessed with it and a lot of those are really
famous. whatever.

I'd say City Of Lost Children would be a recent cult flick.
And definately Pi. And, uh, the Matrix! yeah

Thats a good list - I've seen about a dozen of those.

But I don't agree with Shawshank Redeption being on that
list. And maybe Blade Runner too - but it was virtually
ignored on release which might qualify it for cult status.

EGGACTLY whale!

thats the point of MOST if not all of these movies......and
i quote "most died at the Box Office, some of them
Horribly"

but they THRIVE at the video store. i'm sure thats how they
came up with that list. and while peepz have mentioned some
great what i'd call 'cult' movies, they don't qualify cos
they don't fall into the above mentioned!

i didn't realize Shawshank absolutely SANK at the BO....cos
it's one of my most favourite movies......but apparently it
TANKED at the BO......and via Video Rentals it's just
blossomed!

15 - Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

something about this synopsis makes me wanna watch this
movie!! hahahah maybe the title too

(1966) Russ Meyer - A thrill-seeking karate-master stripper
named Varla (the supremeley bodacious and abundantly hammy
Tura Satana) leads two buxotic and go-go booted cohorts on a
murderous rampage in the desert. If "thrill-seeking
karate-master stripper" hasn't gotten you off your butt and
sent you out to the video store, then the dimestore dialogue
, girl-on-girl fights, gratuitous booty shots, and
incongruously arty black-and-white photography whould be
lost on you anyway. Charlie's Angels gone very, very bad.

Signature Line - "Honey, we don't like nothing soft.
Everything we touch is hard."

Blame it for - The band Faster Pussycat and every woman on
the Sunset Strip.

damn i wanna FIND this movie......ahhahahha

*wonders how many peepz will RENT this bad boy.....errrrrr
girl now?*

Big Lebowski is my #1 favorite movie.

"I'm talkin' about unchecked aggression dude. I'm talking
about drawing a line in the sand, accross this line you do
not...! Also, dude, chinaman is not the preferred
nomenclature.. Asian American, please..."

Walter Sobchek commenting on the Chinaman that peed on
the dude's rug.

34 - The Big Lewbowski

12 - Plan 9 From Outer Space
9 - Blade Runner
6 - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

i guess i've seen...

1,2,5,6,7,8,9,10,12,13,14,16,17,18,19,20,21,23,24,25,27,29,
31,32,34,36,41,42,43,49,50.

I wonder how that list was compiled. is is based on
ticket/video/dvd sales? or is it just based on critical
opinion?

I never understood the appeal of "Rocky Horror..."
seems to me that only dorks and/or fat girls like that
movie.

but then again, i just don't like musicals. except for
'dancer in the dark' 'spinal tap' and the south park movie.

Spinal Tap is so damn funny. God help us all. Good choice.
But Slap Shot is my sentimental choice... Ol' Blue Eyes...
PLAYING HOCKEY!

i can add another movie to my list!! woo hoo

i agree with evolumes thought on Rocky Horror, i don't get
the appeal.....cept that Tim Curry is one of my favourite
actors and should get MORE work in films than he does.
otherwise it's do dated and ummm.....i dunno

the list was based mainly on video rentals....i believe
thats what makes it a cult movie....the fact that it DIED at
the box office, but made loads of bucks via word of mouth
and video rentals!

I've seen: 49, 42, 34, 31, 29, 28, 25, 23, 21, 19, 17, 13,
12, 6, 2, 1

"The Big Lebowski" is one of my favorites. "She's not my
special lady, she's my fucking ladyfriend!"

Also, "Slap Shot" was not a good movie at all. It was only
funny during the on-ice scenes, the rest was boring crap.
And I'm a hockey fan too. BUT, it does have a HUGE cult
following amongst hockey fans so it deserves its place on
the list.

"Spinal Tap" = good choice for #1
