licker made the top 40 singles chart in england and hes a
millionare you dont get that if your not a popular artist

check out the new SND album, Tender Love. It's really
beautiful, cutup R+B garage bizness. Minimal techno artists
doing pop-R+B, I love it.

spanish group... for me the best album is:

una semana en el motor de un autobus (1998)

incredible pop made of exhausting sad and dense atmospheres

the best pop/hip hop album put out this year is Prefuse 73's
One Word Extinguisher... absolutely essential

Urb (american electronic music & hip-hop magazine) just
listed THREE of their five albums in the top 50 greatest
albums ever (#1 was dj shadow's endtroducing). two of the
three were in the top 20.

and sigur ros leaves it pretty broad
so heres a bunch of good stuff that may or may not fit your
definition of 'underground pop', but is well worth checking
out anyways:

mum
dntel
hood
air
the sea and cake
slowdive
my bloody valentine
bjork
clue to kalo
aim
four tet
nightmares on wax
anti pop consortium
ulrich schnauss
casino versus japan
marumari
fog
ampop
yo la tengo

that's a pretty decent 2-5... i still prefer midnight
marauders to the low end theory, though...
but it's good to see the Tribe way up that list... and good
to now that Monsieur Shadow was nombre un!

de la soul's first 2 albums ranked highly (top 25 i think),
NWA's straight outta compton was in the top 20. public enemy
had 2 in the top 10 i believe (first 2 albums).

I don't know if they'd be classified ''underground'', but
Sloan make the best power-pop money can buy these days, and
have been for probably 10 years. Twice Removed and One Chord
to Another are their best, but all their albums since then
have been rock solid as well. I love them, and it's not just
because they're the only really good Nova Scotian band.
They're fucking dope like soap on a rope.

it's indie rock with a sense of humor (doesn't take itself
too seriously). they've been around for a long while and are
actually one of the few extremely popular/trendy indie rock
bands i can endorse (along with dismemberment plan).

Pavement for sure. This is too weird... what's
''underground'' and what's ''pop'' and what's both and
what's what isn't entirely clear...

*faints

just popular alternative music

alternative can sometimes be underground
pop is popular

again ill use aphex as the best example because most people
listen and say its shit
but most people who listen to something different or demand
a bit more have some aphex somewhere
