sonicexperience on 2001-10-26 23:24 [#00045908]

i've got a qusetion for you guys. my friend claims that the
earlier aphex twin stuff sounds alot like radiohead. i
disagree. please give me your opinion. and one more thing.
i've got to let you guys know about my new discovery, WOVEN.
they're kinda trip hop. incredible shit. you can check them
out at wovenmusic.com. let me know what you think!

radiohead fuckin rule! BUT they were influenced by aphex so
its not really aphex sounding like them, more them sounding
like aphex. Only there more recent stuff though and only a
few tracks of that.

firstly your friend is talking shit, although aphex has
influenced TY.
second your Woven have nicked their emblem/logo from aphex.
third that site has pop-ups and is a pisser to navigate
I am going to the pub.

Radiohead totally rock... been listening to em since the
bends, and they actually got me into Techno... but yeah, I
do appreciate that they were influenced by Aphex Twin...

The Funkmaster has lung cancer.

Ophecks on 2001-10-27 01:37 [#00045954]

Fuckmaster, me too. Radiohead steered me into Aphex, bless
their souls. And thus, into electronic noise-making. (music)

Ophecks has bowel cancer.

hey, radiohead also got me that much closer to "techno"...
what a wonderful band radiohead is... *sigh*

Charlie on 2001-10-27 01:45 [#00045959]

Thanksomuch has scabies.

And see, isn't that what makes Radiohead great? I have no
doubt that in a few years time they will be totally immersed
in techno, but right now they are just getting the feel for
it, and yeah their albums are more radio friendly then say
an Aphex Twin album... but they're in the position Nirvana
were in I think... they are beginning to popularize a type
of music... Nirvana did it with grunge and that stuff, and
Radiohead are doing it with Techno... and their music is
awesome!!!

james on 2001-10-29 16:40 [#00046703]

yeah, radiohead also got me into aphex twin and dj shadow.
in some interviews though RDJ has said he thought radiohead
were a bit "crappy". this was said after listening to 5 or 6
songs off kid a once. you're obviously not going to get into
radiohead after one listen.

Ophecks on 2001-10-29 17:12 [#00046709]

Chuck you, Farlie.

hey guys,
great feedback. great radiohead. yeah yeah yeah. i actually
went to their concert in bilbao, spain in may (i was
studying in madrid at the time). it was insane. No one can
perform like Thom! one question...if you're all so into
"techno" why have i only gotten one reply back on woven? i'm
telling you, it's good shit. wovenmusic.com. you'll thank
me for it. shit, i sound like i'm advertising...

Mat from Birmingham, UK on 2001-10-29 20:12 [#00046755]

sonicexperience: just because we like Aphex Twin doesnt make
us automatically "into techno". I like all sorts of music,
anything from Tori Amos to Tool but very little techno stuff
aside from Aphex Twin. I like Autechre and Boards of Canada
though (techno?).

Anyway i'm listening to the track off the Woven website and
i'm not too impressed, simplistic music and dreadfull vocals
IMO of course. Oh and isnt that logo very similar to the
Aphex Twin one.

charlei gave me those scabies. never shold have barrowed
that damn tissue from you....

sonicexperience on 2001-10-30 00:54 [#00046874]

thanks for your woven feedback guys. i think you're kinda
right about the logo. i still think they're really talented,
though.
