Yes,thats right he fucks it up.

I'm talking about my WMP7.1.
I insert cd and I receive a stack error,fair enough.Then I
am told I need to update to WMP9.Okay I try it it doesn't
work, some error message about cannot update.
So I figure fuck it lets install WinAmp instead,so off I go
and d'l WinAmp (which is a terrible piece of software).
Then I try 3 times to Uninstall WMP7.1 no sucess,I can't
uninstall.
So I seek Support, they tell me its a design fault (whats
new?) and they tell me I need ti install the lastest player
WMP9!Which to my joy doesn't work again!
So I'm left with the basic built in cd player or Win98SE and
I have to play Mp3s on a very unfuctional WMP7.1.

Once again Bill Gates and his Microsoft chronies,I thank
you.

"Microsoft Works" yeah right!

I had to get that out of my sytem, and I have to get WMP out
of it too.

Quite a few spelling mistakes in that post, mainly because I
wrote it in frustration.

Yes in my opinion WinAmp 2 is better than 3, purely because
all I want from it is the ability to play music. It is
small, quick and excellent quality, and you can get some
well funky skins for it :D

As I understand it, Nullsoft knows how badly Winamp 3 sucks
and is rolling some of the better features into the Winamp 2
code base. Eventually that will be the version to become the
new winamp 3, or 4, or however they decide to number it.

They'll number it 2.2 or something so people recognize that
its not some shitty 3 upgrade.

Oh and get WinAmp2 instead.

can't you uninstall it manually?

(i don't know if it's possible i don't know shit about
windows... on mac os 9 you didn't really need
uninstallers...)

i use win98se and winamp2, and theyre really quite stable.
thats because I have tweaked the system to remove all the
crap. I use it purely for music, and I'm very careful about
what I install, and have a registry backup for when I need
to do some disk editing with a 'scalpel'.

to fix your problem, copy all the stuff you need to a new
partition/disk/cd/other, re-install win98 and dont bother
with any 'background' programs, custom backgrounds,
themes,etc.
on a slightly different subject to stop crashes, which my
mate was getting on win98(due to heat probs on cpu), I
packed my motherboard with about 7 fans I salvaged from
powersupplies. The celeron400mhz has a fan on chip, fan to
blow in the case.fan to extract.fan blowing on
motherboard.fan blowing on 60gig.fan blowing on psu and fan
for upper drive bays(cdroms)....and no crashes, so
re-install and get some fans is my advice...oh and get BeOS
:)

bravo! something constructive and not the same
bill/microsoft/windows=shit...
i would like to see you try to make the OS EVERYONE uses and
make it stable with EVERY programs ever encoded and those
not programmed yet...
I'm using win98 from the start, the only time my comp is
crashing it's because of cracked software, and i didn't even
do what dave did... can't be bothered...=)
