OK, a totally irrelevant topic. No reason for it really either, I'm just curious:
What is the shortest length of time you've ever had between meeting someone for the first time and then telling them that you love them? And what's the longest?
How long did it take before you realised that you were in love?
And how did they react?

I've said "i love you" to a person after a 1 month of dating, and she said the same thing. But i think love allso fades.

pf - I agree with you, in my experience love always seems to fade with time. It's very depressing. Of course platonic love can remain stable.

:) i'll post before surrounded does:
George: Anyway, I'm thinking of making a big move.
Jerry: What?
George: I might tell her that I love her. I came this close last night, then I just chickened out.
Jerry: Well, that's a big move, Georgie boy. Are you confident in the 'I love you' return?
George: Fifty-fifty.
Jerry: Cause if you don't get that return, that's a pretty big matzoh ball hanging out there.
George: Aw, I've just got to say it once, everybody else gets to say it, why can't I say it?
Elaine: What, you never said it?
George: Once, to a dog. He licked himself and left the room.
---
George: Well, it's all over. I slipped up.
Jerry: Oh, you don't know.
George: You have any idea how fast these things deteriorate when there's an 'I love you' out of the bag? You can't have a relationship where one person says, "I love you", and the other says, "I'm hungry. Let's get something to eat.".
Jerry: Unless you're married.

manicminer, I do think that its possible to be in love for like 10 years, but at the begining of a relationship it's intense but in the end you will still love the person but diffrently
The love that you have for your family and friends dosent fade I think.

I think so, but depends on the distance and how often do you see each other. If you see once a week, i think then the relations ship can work real good because you will have your own time during the week.
But i think that there has to be more chemistry between the two persons because of the distace.

IMO, long distance relationships can work, so long as both people are mature and hard working enough to keep time they can meet free. What messed up my long distance relationship was my other half not keeping what little time we had together free. I would work hard during the week running up to a visit to make sure we would have the maximum time to do stuff. She wasn't the same... I'd go up there and find she had to finish coursework, go shopping, fill in forms etc. while I was there. I'd usually end up on the PC or the Megadrive while she did her chores. Looking back, maybe only 1/2 the time spent with her was actually "with her", the rest was around the house waiting for her...

I was in a 3 year relationship and I was very much in-love.. it was very soon after I met him that I loved him and never really stoped.
I loved other people after a short amount of time, it was more "shallow" love.. but still love the same.

5 years ago I was with this girl i met at work. cute, really open-minded and all.
we were together for only three days but already i was in luUUVvv crazy....
i told her: "Ma puce. tu m'fais kiffer grave. j'suis fou de toi" wich mean: "I Love you crazy." I kissed her like in those us movie's end except that american don't put the tongue.
She told me: "Tu rend ouf! j'suis si heureuse quand t'es la." wich can be translated by: "I love yu tooo." then another Frenchkiss excavation. She said: "Je taime. Tu veux pas m'epouser?" "I luv yu. Oh, marry me, Johnny. (yeah, since the 5 of june i call myself Johnny for a change.)
... Time stopped suddenly. In my brain, many pictures passed at the speed of light . me saying "yes" and passing the ring to her.
me saying goodbye and going to work 17 hours for 4¤/hours while she, pregnant, is feeding our first born child. me driving in a car to holidays with 6 brats howling in the back. 44, bald, fat.
Time restarted "Non, merci, au revoir." "No thanks, Goodbye miss" i was only 20.

It kinda scares me how much we can depend on each other for happiness: if the one you love (or obsessively stalk :) isn't responding how you, in your infinite wisdom, think they should then you're fucked and really depressed.
I've only ever said it to one person. After going out about 3 weeks. It was Not A Good Idea.

I've only said it to two girls. The first was my first girlfriend, I was 15 and she was 14. I didn't even mean to say it, it was only like 3 weeks after we started going out and it just slipped out of my mouth. I don't remember what she said in return; I'm doing my best to forget about that whole relationship.
The second time was to my current girlfriend, about 2 or 2.5 months after we started going out. We are very far apart this summer so we usually talk on IM and she wrote me a haiku that had "I love you" in it somewhere and that led to me telling her that I love her and her reciprocating the feeling. We're still going strong..

hmm, as for me.. i've always thought the word was thrown around a bit too much..what i'd be reluctant to call 'love' someone else might though..
though, i may just be overly cautious due to consistant bad luck.

it didnt take me very long to realise i had feelings for someone..

i know some GUYS have emotions, just that for some reason they are taught to supress things.....or so i've observed....cos they'll be thought of as WEAK.
it's acutally quite the opposite.....takes more HUEVOS to show feelings than act like you don't have any, plus BONUS feature you won't get an ulcer....mauahhahha

no I don't think long distance relationships work. i used to when i was young and optimistic but now i'm more realistic.
i had a girlfriend in italy and later i had a girlfriend in aberdeen.
the actual time spent together was few and far between, and at the end of the brief time together there was always the sadness that it would be ages before we would be together again.

i think long distance can and DOES work.
ONLY if you see each other regularly.....at least once a month IN PERSON for a several day stretch.
takes a lot of committment, effort and work tho......no doubt!
