feedback is appreciated. i've been working on this one for
a few days, its one of my better tracks made under the name
cartbot i think (thats not saying much, ha!). i've recently
been trying to make my music slightly more listenable. the
track is called space02.

my zebox page, space02

thanks for listening. please tell me what you think! :)

it's pretty simple

not that it's bad, it sort of reminds me of my tracks, in
that I like the slow progression, slow build, and simple
melodic tone.

the synth at 1:01 kills it though, and it's funny, cuz I do
that alot too, just add something that doesn't fit, and I
feel cool, but it really doesn't work for me, and it just
interupts your song here.

I'm a big fan of the minimalist creation here, but the fewer
tools you use, the better they have to sound. I like your
style, keep at it, and keep me posted when more stuff comes
along.

well, mr.Lyons.. I agree with BlatantEcho.

it was okay till the synth at 1:00 drops in. up till then
the percussive elements were nice and the melody was simple
but okay.
but that synth at 1:00 really is pretty awful. it sounds
really lazy, like you wanted a melody there, but couldn't
think of one.

try replacing that synth, I would say.

do you think the notes and the sound are awful, or just the
notes? and is it awful as well when it comes in again at
2:02? thanks to everyone for listening and the honest
feedback! :D

hey man, I can't tell you the notes are awful, or the sound
is awful. It is your track, and you make it sound the way
you want it to sound.

I just think the synth sound that starts @ 1:01 sounds lost
and out of place. That's just my opinion.

qrter seemed to agree with me. I'm not going to pick your
song apart, I think it shows that you are on a path that I
personally really enjoy listening to.

That is all I meant, I'm not going to "correct" any note in
that track that I don't agree with.

i tried to download this track, but pop up ads kept cutting
in and interrupting my attempts to save the link to my disk,
then i got a message saying i had already downloaded the
track three times, and was prevented from downloading.
thanks, zebox!

i have some of your other stuff...and i actually think i
like it better. haha. well. see. here's the thing. that
squeaky sci-fi thing in the beginning and all the way up
until the 1:01 synth (which i must agree with qrter and
blatantecho on...it seems like it belongs in another track).
reminds me of FF7. the whole shinra theme thing they had
goin'. yeah...can't explain it really. but that's the first
thing it reminded me of. like...when you go up to the maako
reactor and have the whole flashback thing.
yeah...anyways...this is still really really good. honesty
really truly really-reals. for reals. i'm not even kidding.
one might even say that i'm being honest when i say that.
it's just that one thing seems out of place or something.
dunno.

this wasn't helpful. sorry to fill your thread with my video
game nostalgia. heh.

I'm going to be really pretentious, but only because I like
what I heard, and because I haven't written a song in a
while.

I agree with this 1 min mark that everyone else is talking
about. It's not the notes, but the sound. I'd like to hear
it transposed atleast 1 octave down.

I loved those percussive sounds. Made me jeoulous. But I
wish it had some bass drums and snares in it. I was hoping
that the beat would go hard, or harder. Like a bass and drum
type thing.

But then again, maybe you have no desire for it to turn out
into a song like that. At the end of the day, I was quite
impressed.

er...with that last bit there.

At the end of the day, I was quite
impressed.

ok, i was able to exit zebox and start over. your track
starts out very amber-like, then adds nice digi-distorted
percussion, which has become a cliché, but sounds good.
the percussion doesn't really develop in an interesting way,
however, and momentum is gradually lost as the melody fails
to expand on the simple, repeating motifs. the synth that
everyone has mentioned, for me, is as problematic in the
melody, which should be rewritten, though i would change the
sound, too. what's needed is more music, more inventive
arrangement, more percussive elaboration. i think what you
have is promising, you just need to develop your skills and
expand your sound.

Hmm it's good, but i prefered 2iu01, and also i kind of
thought the synth part in question was a bit high in the
mix.

I still enjoyed it, i love listening to other peoples work,
It keeps me fresh and it helps move me along with what i'm
doing.

I like this a lot. I've been playing a lot of doom2 and this
melody would work in that game. but I like the weird fast
squiggle beeps the most. I like those a lot and couldn't
exactly emulate them quite like that myself.

what r u doing to me?

i listen to the song, and my head is caving in trying to
place that bass in to the song, now it hurts

doesn't everyone think that with some bass and some fine
tuning it could be a nice track

first i'd like to thank all of you for your feed back. i
have used your comments and suggestions to (hopefully)
improve the song, and if you care, there is a new version
available at my sound click page. the first one on the page,
space02edit.

bump. i think there are more than 10 people online now. if
anyone who heard the earlier version would like to hear the
new one that would be great.

thank you. sorry.

I think you took down the old one, so I forget exactly what
the original was compared to this. The main difference I
notice is the starting melody is more echoey. I like the
first non-echoy one better I think.

...?

did you get the track you are talking about off of zebox?
because the original song is still on zebox and i put the
new one on soundclick and there is a lot more
changed. i didn't make the first melody more echoey but
alot of other things are different.

DO NOT GO TO ZEBOX, THE NEW TRACK IS ON SOUNDCLICK

sorry about that :(

oh yeah... I actually did listen to the soundclick one. I
guess since, to me, it's a new track with unfamiliar
sounds/structure, the changes weren't enough to notice
really. If I listened to it as much as you I'd be able to
tell easier. Well this time, I think you added some extra
polyphonyish bass notes? I'm probably wrong again, heh heh.
Well it sounds good, but adds an extra noise thereby
blurring out the detail of the clicky percussion a little
bit.
