for the last time.
zebox or mp3.com
they just don't give away free spamming space these days.

Soundclick. They used to have server problems, but there
hasn't been anything worth complaining about for months now.
They'll try to get you to pay, of course, but they won't
make you, and unlike mp3.com their free service isn't utter
crap.

the real solution is hosting an ftp server on your own
harddisk.

the REAL if you have broadband is this:

1. Get an old computer - something from 100mhz and up and
with a cdrom-drive.

2. Get 2 10/100 LAN-cards and put them in the old computer.

3. Graphiccard can be anything. RAM should be 64MB or over.
The harddisk is not that important ether. You should do with
1GB+.

4. Since you only need a monitor under first boot, the only
real hardware you need is maybe a HUB (in case you have more
computers), or a crosswired LAN-cable. You also need a
keyboard, but any type will do.

5. Download and burn ClarkConnect from http://www.clarkconnect.com.

6. Install ClarkConnect on your old computer. ClarkConnect
is a Linux distribution, but is really easy to setup. You
have the main installation, which is pretty much "click and
go" installation. Then for configuring you have a web
interface (same design as the main-site). You don't need to
know Linux to do this.

7. Now you have a webserver, mailserver (if you want),
domainname (you get a yourname.pointclark.net for free, and
it automatically updates if you change IP), firewall, proxy,
and everything else a server has. This is now a fully
featured free server.

8. then you of course has to fiddle around with windows
network-settings to get the Internet up and running, and
that is all something the clarkconnect manuals and you ISP
can help you with.

Easy as that!

no...why should they do that...I have my server running on a
512/512 ADSL. My ISP could care less what i do with my
connection. Of course..if you have a bandwidth limit of come
sort (my old ISP had 5GB transfer-limit over a month), then
you maybe in risk of using up the limit to fast.

this is my server ...it just runs in my closet - no monitor, no
mouse - just 2 LAN-cards (one for input and one for output),
a HUB (i have 2 other computers) and the modem

part of the site

I have a hosting package from Strato (I'm on a university
connection here, can't run my own server), actually,
but I don't use it for my music because I'm lazy.
