Fucking awsome show in seattle at chop suey last night! They had a 7 piece band consisting of Samplers, turn-tables, fem. vox. drums, sax, bass and keys. the set list was as follows:
First two tracks were new stuff. 3rd came 'burnout' off of everyday 4th was an extended 2part version of 'evolution' off of everyday. the second half being totally different from the album version and recognizable only by the lyrics.
5th was 'durian' (i think) off of motion; smokey as hell, almost creepy, into a second half with much more energy.
6th was 'man with the movie camera' off of everyday. some awsome sapranino sax and a really amazing drum solo. this went into a second part that may have been a live mix of 'And Relax!' off of motion
for the encore they played: a great version of 'ode to the big sea' off of motion which went into a cool duo of the tenor sax and dj kinda "battling" while everyone else left the stage. he is an amazing sax player.
They ended with another new track i didn't recognize that was a real bassy growler
overall, it was a great show. the sound was good, the audience was deffinately 'feeling it' for lack of a better term. the opener dj that i caught, j-justice, (i think) was so-so. he kept scratching in beats that just kinda killed the rhythm but his selection was good and included some latin jazz as well as some more contemporary jazz. didn't matter though. C.O. was on fire last night and i recommend this show to anyone who has a chance to go. fuck that 'they're too jazzy for my tastes' bull-shit. this is good fucking music and these guys/gal's improv skills are unreal.
