i'd say it was between 1:00 & 1:30 pm. i looked up at the sun, and there was a gigantic greyish circle radiating around it, enclosed by a subtle rainbow membrane. i don't even know how to begin to explain how it happened, unless i was a meteorologist. anyone else witness recent unfamiliar phenomena? |

There was a cloud in front of the sun...yes I can see how that is a wierd phenomenon. |

actually there wasn't. everything outside of the circular membrane wasn't as dark as the inside. |

Still a cloud and an optical illusion that often occurs, it is caused by you eyes actually trying to focus on the cloud and the sun at the same time, it causes the dark inner. The rainbow is obviously the light as it passes through the water content of the cloud. |

Well, this could also be the sign of the apocalypse. In 7 days the earth will be covered in shadow. The elements will eradicate all living creatures on this planet and the core will disintegrate until it explodes. Of course, this is just my theory. |

yeah, it sounds like it was just a halo, which is caused, as ecnabniarb said, by the sunlight passing through a layer of high thin clouds |
