who here likes really old skool dub? im talking like mid 1970s african style.
I just picked up The Congos "Heart of the Congos" and is fucking sweet. I would suggest this album to anyone if they want to hear the very roots of modern day dub.

oh, and head charge's "drums of defiance" is good. a bit more aggressive or industrial-ish than their usual foray.
oh, and that stuff the guys from at the drive-in were doing... good stuff. what was that called?

I like dub. I saw it on american ninja 5. the thing is, they dubbed some yank tosser who was cuttin about in pink pyjamas. he looked like a ninja, though more like a minge-a. And you had the chinese or whatever they were strutting about sayin "I like to defrost my apple last week cuntyface" , just so the words would fit with the movement of their little oriental moothies. Strange mooovie. made me cry, wank and piss my y-fonts simultaneously.

I would concur with Loogie - Augustus Pablo, Scientist (no the), and King Tubby are all amazing.. Lee Perry is good too, but I find some of his stuff a bit mastubatory.
Either of the Trojan dub box sets (1 or 2) are great places to start - other great dub records:
Augustus Pablo meets Rockers Uptown Keith Hudson - Pick a dub Scientist - Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires
Forward the Bass - Dub from Randys 1972-75 (more chilled)
Those are four personal favourites of mine...

I dont rate the Mad Professor that highly.. the dubs he did of massive attack were pretty good, but I have a few of his other records and have been a bit dissapointed.
Can you reccomend any record that is as good as augutus, tubby etc?

I thougt Rhythm And Sound was just a group only. I highly recomend "Rhythm and Sound/Cornel Campbell - King In My Empire"
One of the greatest dub tracks i have ever heard. Mostly because of Cornels fantastic singing , he sounds like a jamaican Sam Cook =)

I can never decide which I like more: King Tubby or Scientist, but there's one album I think I come back to most often: king tubby's studio vs channel one studio in dub
