Don't fall off your chairs in disbelief....I'm actually sat
here listening to Aphex Twin SAW I, and I really like this
track. Also Ptolemy is very good in my opinion.
Yeah...yeah....I know this material has been talked about
over and over, but hey - this is me we're talking about!

Thanks to those out there that got me into electronic music
- you know who you are! :D

electronic music has the potential to be so expressive.
there is alot of dead sounding stuff, but alot fo very
vivrant and alive sounding stuff, too.

get one into Aphex Twin/IDM!

i dont know what musical background you come from. some come
from metal, some come from post-punk/new wave, soem coem
from hip-hop, but i just love the amalgam of electronic. it
has everything you could ever want, when done right. i love
hearing electronics back up something like a piano or an
acoustic guitar. it's just the best.

that was the first 'electronic' album i ever bought. And
indeed i could not believe how beautiful heliospan was :-) I
love that track! Also xtal. I enjoy the entire album, but
xtal & heliospan are definitly the standout tracks for me.

yes....and electronic music has such a clean feeling. I like
the perfection of electronic music because it doesn't have
the flaws of acoustic instruments. does that sound
strange??

above all, I like the fact that with electronic music you
can create a never-ending range of new sounds, never heard
ny anyone before.

Yeah electronic sounds are already being used as other
"instruments" in traditional orchestra recordings,
especially film scores. They are capable of producing tones
not achievable with conventional instruments, yet which
still retain that classical "feel" of real instruments.

Check out the work of the guy (forget his name) who did the
music to "Ice Age". He often uses softsynths in his
orchestral compositions and simply layers the softsynth
track with the recording of the live orchestra. He said that
often you don't notice it, but take it away and it sounds
flat and dead- as if there was no reverb or an element
missing.

SAWI is so dull that it would take 10 shoeshine boys to make
it sparkly

The whole album is spectacular... even if you don't believe
a single rumour about him/it, the songs are as memorable as
any in the very small cannon of 'techno classics'. Brilliant
stuff.

Stop raining on our parade, meanie.

SAW 85-92 is as wicked as a witch, great place to put your
toe in and test the waters. Ptolemy makes me feel like I'm
in some cheesy early 80's rave-ish thingy with lots of poofy
haired heads bobbing about, but that's OK.

Weird.
