Smojphace = Shit

I got my copy in the mail yesterday and I wish I hadn't
opened it. Does anyone else agree that the two noise tracks
are awful? I'm not a big fan of noise music, but I am
familiar with VSnares and ktpa1&2 are just shit in
comparison. This just my opinion and my expression of my
disapointment. Sorry if this has already been discused.
Anyone else have an opinion?

All noise is equally shit.

Track 1 is perfect hardcore. I love it.

I can dig track 1, but harldy worth the 10 bucks I paid for
it. I think I'll make noise and see if people pay for it...

I don't think I'll even bother listening to this in record

If you haven't heard it listen to it. He may be fucking
with my head, but he's the one who's gonna lose money
because of it, unless his next release is actually good.
Eithor way I will be downloading it first.

why is everybody making such a big deal about this release?
(these countless smojphace threads) we knew it was going to
be one remix and two noise tracks, so those who didn't like
it and bitched over the fact they pre-ordered it on warp
shouldn't be suprised, you knew what was coming. anyway
there's enough of these threads already, no nead to start a
new one.

I had no idea what the other two tracks were, I've been too
busy to check the MB. I just preordered.

this album is shit, but it doesn't surprise me. adds more
fuel to the fire for the "noise music is not music"
argument. the first track is alright, but no, not worth the
money. i hope he doesn't make an entire album of this shit,
but if he does, oh well.

I won't be buying it if he does make a whole noise album. I
should have just bought a new copy of SAWII, mines all
scratched up.

to some peepz NOISE = MUSIC, i am just not one of those
peepz that buys or BUYS that.....ehheheh

i told my BF long ago that i wouldn't be buying this,
although i'm gonna listen to it at some point.

i was NOT happy with 26 remixes.....i think RDJ did it JUST
for the CASH, PUN intended......ehehheheh

last release i was happy with was DRUQKS....i know not
everyone was happy with that, but at least it wasn't REMIXED
old tracks

not everything RDJ does is GOLD, artists are allowed to
falter, i just HOPE he has s'more left in him that he'll
release and i wanna buy!

...I allways thought noise was a term we used to describe
the sounds we don't want to hear...

don't get me wrong, I can appreciate the artistic merit
that goes towards trying to be different from the
mainstream, but with so many of us being raised though what
would be called mainstream* (*compared to noise) that most
of us see it as being lazy or just plain boring,

-this is just my take on noise

26 is wonderful, i don't really care if warp or richard did
it just for the cash. they deserve it for the quality music.
the name is '26 mixes for cash' so at least their honest
about it ..or have a sense of humor. I'm very grateful what
that they digged up all these mixes for 2 disc release.
That's something i only wished for, never expected it to
happen. So warp or richard, i say thank you and enjoy the
money. i'll enjoy the music

*nods*

i dunno if i'd say it's lazy, or just tryin' to be
different........but it's just NOT my thing. i can listen
ONCE maybe, twice if there is some melody.....but just -
IMO random noises (like some of VSnares moosiq) is not
something i wanna listen to for pleasure, or mind expansion
or whatever your thing is......i have to have a
melody......somewhere in there

26 mixes was well excellent. i'm from the camp of people who
like their music melodic. most of aphexs shit does this for
me, but these noise tracks seem lazy and inhuman. some
people might like this, might think its "avant garde", but i
think its pretentious bullshit.
and don't call me closed minded because i don't care for it.

pardon my ignorance, but i've never heard any Smojface. is
it noise music, like Merzbow?

vsnares is definitely not "noise music" in the merzbow
sense, but it is strange, metallic, "noisy" music. theres a
large difference between the two, but i think thats what he
was getting at.

offline Shatterproof from xltronic messageboard on 2003-06-15 23:06 [#00742229]

No discussion.

Smoj tracks 2, 3 = Noise, not music, boring, anyone can do
it.

Smoj track 1 = awesome ragga hardcore, but not worth the
money of an EP.

i wasn't talking about 26 remixes D00D!

music is subjective, just cos i didn't think it was worth
the money i paid for it, shouldn't lessen your enjoyment.
i'm stating my OPINION......which is just as valid as
anyone's.

disc one of 26 remixes sounded DATED, and was just mediocre
IMO......the second disc was a lot better, but in the end
i've listened twice and not gone back.....does that mean i'm
bored with it.....maybe.....i does mean that it wasn't like
druqks which i couldn't stop listening to.....cos it blew me
away....or SAWII which is NOT old or dated sounding

i DO NOT d/l and burn CD's i buy REAL copies of them, if i
think they are worth it. his latested (with the dumb title
to boot) just isn't worth the 10 bucks or whatever he's
charging......again IMO.

My definition of the release =
track1=Good
track2=shit
track3=shit

Also I don't mean that VSnares is just noise, there is much
more to it than that in there case, but being unfamiliar
with noise "music" that was the closest reference I could
think of.

disc 1 of 26 mixes sounds dated because well it's a
collection of old tracks and you should take it for what it
is. disc2 has bit more of his recent drill'n'bass style,
maybe you like his earlier material less? ...well except for
SAW2 which you seem to love. I don't really care if music
sounds dated if the music is good. that's my personal
opinion ofcourse.

People get a little pissy about other peoples taste in
music. It seems that by me stating my opinions that other
people feel I need to shut up simply because they don't
agree? If don't like noise "music" or VSnares or Smojphace
or whatever, then I don't like it. If someone doesn't like
that then that is there problem, and I don't feel that I
need to be insulted simply upon the basis of my opinion
being different.

some people don't respect others opinions thats why they
have to argue to prove how wrong you are. sad but true.

i've changed my mind about some stuff (musically i mean ie

Archrivals Smojphace review:

track 1: Could have been so fucking good (just like that
windowlicker remix).
It just sounds lazy, like preset AFX drill n base with not
one little melody. I mean im allright only if I get a few
stabs or something like that second remix on the first men
release. Anyway decent summer material, me really like ragga
n the bug so its all good ;) decent/good. 3 out of 5 (but
its sad that it easily could have been a 4,5 out of 5 if he
just put some time into the mix and added some melody and
more changes/ambitious shit a la Drukqs.

track 2: impossible to listen to (this is from a person who
actually like Merzbow, Hecker and Haswell etc). Im glad I
got something new to terrorize my enemies n neighbours with
tho. Matter of fact im gonna call up some one right now at
random, playin that shit a max volume right now hehe ;)

3: arrghh this is some shit noize, look at the above
comment...

Thanks catwoman, actually I meant that you shouldn't get
offended by people who are agressive when they don't like
someone's right to express an opinion. It only means they
are irritated, and the best move would be to ignore their
anger until they soothe down. They don't want to patronize
you, they just get irritated by one particular subject (in
this case: Smojphace EP which failed their expectations) and
it's all ok while you don't talk about it, cos that's when
opinions become outlawed :)
