In the recent Chris Clark and Mike P releases they have
used a heavily distorted bass drum (Like the old techno
style)... I have tried everything to try and replicate the
sound and I just can't do it.

Has anyone got any hints or tips?

uhhh- try getting an 808 drum and increasing the gain by a
hell of a lot - then render as wav and load it as a sample

I have tried doing that...I just don't get the same
sound...it is going squelchy rather than buzzy :P

ya got any distortion plug-ins and a low-bit 909 kick
sample?
(i find hammerhead made a delightfully ancient soundin 909
dist-kick)

Use a compresor or a limiter plugin if you want that really
fat sound.
