So i bought this game, because it's been a long time since
i played a good shooter. And everyone was saying how hard it
was, and i felt like a challenge :-)

But holy shit... satan himself must have involved in the
creation of this game :-p

It is really hard, i'm not kidding! I'm playing it on
the 'easy' level... and already the screen is so full of
bullets and enemies that you can hardly see the (amazing)
backgrounds. Talk about intense action! Just thinking about
the 'normal' level gives me nightmares... not to mention
'hard' :-p

The color-changing idea is really novel. A simple concept,
but very complex once you start playing.

And i have to say: I am loving it! :-) Yes, you die almost
every 2 seconds, but somehow the frustration-level is still
tolerable... and the urge to try it again for just one more
time is incredibly big. You litterally have to struggle very
hard for every centimeter of progress... but it's so good!
Very few modern games still offer this level of challenge
and satisfaction.

Not for beginners though :-p

Treasure make such wonderful games. I was really happy (and
slightly) surprised to see this game in the American Top 40
games chart.

It is great to see people out there still like old-school
style shooting stuff and haven't all been brainwashed by a
lot of the style-over-substance games that have been coming
out in the past few years.

Though, sadly, I am yet to play Ikaruga. Hopefully soon...

Oh really? I'm surprised to hear that too...
That makes me happy :-) Maybe this will send out a strong
signal to gamesdeveloppers that a game doesn't has to
be 3d and ultra-realistic to be succesful.

"style-over-substance games"

That's exactly right. Ofcourse there are some wonderful
exceptions, but overal i really feel like the gamesindustry
is all going downhill at this moment. I enjoyed the 16bit
consoles era so much more :-)

Yes, if you like this kind of thing i'm sure you won't be
dissapointed!

It's a fantastic game. I already have it for the DC, but I'm
considering it for the GC.

It's damned hard though as you point out.

Once you get into a kind of trance and the colour swapping
becomes automatic it's not so hard, as soon as you lose that
state of mind you lose all your remiaining lives in seconds
:)

I love this game, just wait untill you get to the level 4
boss. HOLY F"IN SHIT that is hard!!! good luck.

There's a video somewhere on the web of someone getting
perfect chains and not dieing at all on the first level.
It's pretty amazing.

damn, that sounds good! :-)
I am yet to reach such a state of trance.
I haven't even begun to properly create those 'chains' yet.
I basically keep the fire-button constantly pressed down and
shoot everything that moves :-p
Which is hard enough already! I'm gonna need alot more
practice before i can start selecting which enemies to shoot
to create perfect chains.

So far i've made it to somewhere in the 3rd chapter. There's
this section where some sort of bars keep coming out of the
left and right wall... like doors closing, and only leaving
a very small space to fly through. It all happens so fast...
i keep crashing.

I haven't been able to properly defeat the level 2 boss
either. Just to survive long enough, and then it just goes
away. But it's not very satisfying when you don't kill it! I
want to see it die! :-p

i'm considering buying it also since i've got a GC and this
game tempts me, but i fear i won't survive more than three
seconds... would it still be enjoyable? probably not... =/
