jesus, what's up with this? just because people disagree with you? so you only love the people who agree (or rather: don't disagree) with you.. don't take it so personal man
btw i don't think i have the same musical knowledge as a bsb fan, i play piano for about 13-14 yrs now, i think i can hear differences between chords and melodies
i might be wrong of course, if you say so

get fucked. sampling, recontextualising, referencing: big freakin deal. Hip-hop tracks take large chunks of other ppls tracks all the time.. Jay-Z bites kraftwerk etc.. and they don't always cut up the breaks!!!
And yes I have a good ear for melodies..

did you see there is a thread about this thread on the Planet Mu phorum..?
and mr. Aaron Funk himself answered..?
his answer..
"I ripped the melody from Dance Like Your Selling Nails from an Ennio Morricone record. Other than that I'm not sure what this kid is trying to say...that I sampled these melodies or I copied them or what. I can say I haven't done that but anyone can believe whatever they like. I'm sure that road from the ear to the mind takes many different turns for everyone. I don't know why I bother even replying to this. Why do I even bother releasing music anymore? I can tell you I'm really sick of being even a passing thought in the minds of people I really don't respect because this 'IDM' scene or whatever the fuck it is treats music like a pissing contest. I don't want to be a part of that. I'm not Star Trek and I'm not pandering to fanatical imbeciles that are too gimped up to have ever kicked around a soccer ball. Why is it so fucking important what I do? Why isn't it more important what you do? I know I don't give a fuck what you do, if your records were on amazon.com I wouldn't put them in my shopping cart. Wanna know why? Cuz I don't give a fuck about you.
Sorry I'll get back in my shrinkwrap now,
Aaron"
personally, I couldn't care less.

music should not be analysed by the means that it was made by - it should be analysed by the moods, tones, and emotions it illustrates. it should be a thing for relaxation, exciement, arousal, stimulation - not a book to sit down and read. i think that if we were more focused on the emotions we feel from music instead of the sounds we hear, there would much more music lovers out there.

i believe it's possible for two people to come up with melodies almost exactly the same.. i mean there's only so many notes and combinations, the real important part of music comes from the feelings that go with the music.

no one seems to have mentioned: so what even if aaron funk is "copying" a melody why is this a bad thing?
in my car once listening to dance... with my mate (who no way has definitely not heard of vsnares) heard the song and said "oh quality! its this song!" ...which made such a change to all my mates saying: "turn this fucking racket off"
so what if something is familiar it can still be original and
have just as much artistic value as the thing it is imitating.
analyse music in terms of the end not the means

Oh and secondly, why should someone’s opinion on a song be less valid because they are not musically trained or play an instrument?- they still have ears.

all i know is that in the time that we are living electronic, musicians have been sampling and editing to their likes, to create something original, I feel that vnsares is merely looking to the ones who pioneered the idm scene before he was big. all you really have to go on is being inspired by others music. you must take some of that knowledge with you when creating your own music wether it be from sampling or using the same notes in a melody that may have been used in a different song, etc etc
