in interviews he says that when under the influence he goes
to bed, because you can't make music.

yeah, because you really need drugs to get inspiration.

Yeah, and a big one at that.

Never take anything he says seriously unless you personally
know him very well, but thats just me stating the obvious.

Seasoned 'Aphexers' know that although R is very talented
and rich,he likes to fib.

nice going with the sarcasm there qrter ;D
Damn right, nobody can make good music without using drugs
because without drugs you can't have inspiration! :S
But can we take the question in question serious? I was
always like, has the twin ever been sober for once in his
entire life.

I heard he made his piano tracks on drukqs by hitting the
keys with his penis, and re-strung the piano with his pubic
hair.

somewhat you can say yes.
my theory:
he went asleep stoned and thought about somehting, then put
it together soberly on the next day (as far as you can say
sober on a day after a smoke :))

why?:
1.because he said in a interview he can figure out music in
his mind.
2.i saw him do dope
3.i remember in my smoking days that i could fall asleep
stoned and build up the best things in my mind i could do
and put it togehter on the next morning.

i strongly believe that this has happened to him, but it
wont have played a major role in his recording/composing.

what may have played a role is lsd.
but that is only speculation.
and im pretty sure that if you are directly under the
influence of lsd you cant work, but i dont really know that
either.

the theme/inspiration of Selected Ambient Works 2 is being
in a powerplant on acid, doesn't necessarily mean he was on
it during any of the recording

Personally i dont think any part, or any element of his
tracks were made under the influence of lsd. Whilst on that
stuff you can't even hold the mouse cos it'd actually be a
neon armadillo or summin' daft like that... Nmmm 'Neon
Armadillo' Could be the name of his next track lol

As fer dope.. That stuff just makes chairs even softer than
they are already.. Mefinkz dope does sod all fer
creativity.

Xy.

the effects of drug taking last longer than just when you're
'stoned' on them.

dope just makes you think your being creative, when in actual
fact your just being a shit.

Marlowe: How is that ignorant?

I know this from my own experience, wether it implies others
I don't know.

if it's just applicable to your experience, you shouldn't
make it a sweeping generalisation.

offline marlowe from Antarctica on 2003-06-08 06:29 [#00731651]

and furthermore, it is MY experience that drugs can enhance
the creative process - I was pretty stoned during the
writing of most of my 'a circle is a triangle' e.p. and it's
proved to be one of my more popular endeavours.

offline TonePu5her from lincoln !UK! (United Kingdom) on 2003-06-08 06:34 [#00731653]

Ok,the wording was incorrect, what I mean and what I say
differs.
Your right I did just assume others were the same as I and
made a generalisation, but I'm not going to go around hitting
"IMO" at the end of each post.

you don't have to put 'IMO' at the end of each post, you
just carefully word your sentances so they don't end up
being grotesque generalisationsa -- it's a good habit to get
in to.

then you should tighten that up - communication is important
- think of all the fights that have started simply over
miscommunication!

offline TonePu5her from lincoln !UK! (United Kingdom) on 2003-06-08 06:52 [#00731673]

Yes but the thing with being human is that words are not the
most important thing in communication.
And to be raised whatching peoples eyes/facial expressions
ect,and then being thrown onto a message board where words
are all that matter, alongside with cultural, language and
other missunderstandings is highly un-orthodox.

I see your point.Be more carefull.

come on now, tone! It's not that hard to avoid making those
kinds of generalisations! You just have to put little things
like 'I think that' or 'It seems to me' or things like that!

offline TonePu5her from lincoln !UK! (United Kingdom) on 2003-06-08 06:56 [#00731678]

Yes but its natural to just type what you think or how you
would say it.
