Hi chaps, I've been lurking here for some time now and finally decided to register.
Dunno if I'll be a major reg with thousands of points but hopefully I'll have something to say now and again.
I write music and am researching some small labels at the mo, but don't worry, I ain't here to pester you with "listen to my latest track" posts etc etc.
Mind you, I may just ask for your sage opinions on certain labels.. that's probably likely or possibly not :)
I mostly work with voices looped or embedded into collage form or as narrative for my observations on the world.. I let real people speak for themselves sort of thingy.
I use TV, radio, CB, police transmissions.. all sorts and explore themes such as road-rage, teenage sex, commercialism whatever. Humour plays a large part too.
Yes, I'm into that RDJ bloke's music, some BoC and Autechre, FSoL, King Tubby, Miles Davis, Specials, Gong, KLF.. and lots of stuff you don't wanna know about ;P
(We all had to grow up listening to SOMEthing!)
What else? Getting a bit bored of video games these days..
Fave film directors: Akira Kurosawa, Hitchcock, Leone.. oh and I love zombie films.. the best imho are Night of the Living Dead (of course), Dawn of the Dead and Zombie Flesh-Eaters.
Also into Haiku, TS Eliot, Baudelaire, No Drama and STOKE CITY FC!!
Fave RDJ SAW 85-92, Come to Daddy and Surfing on Sine Waves (at least today).
Love seafood, decent weed, current affairs and staying out of bed and staying in bed.
Ya still here? You're crazy, go read something more interesting!
Be nice..
Peace

Only have Music Has the Right to Children and Geogaddi, plus a tune on one of my Mixing It compilations.
Mixing It is a cool show on BBC radio 3 and they play all sorts, electronica to folk and everything in between (although I ain't heard it in a while).
Geogaddi has some sublime moments but I was a little disappointed with Music Has the Right.. it kinda washes over me and leaves me not remembering much of what I just heard :/

Thanks for the welcomes everyone that's really cool.
Just about the Peter Jackson zombie stuff.. I have to say I prefer the early classics. I mean Bad Taste is a funny film and all that but Evil Dead, albeit another good film, pretty much inspired everything after to be pretty much comedy-based.
I always found lots of humour in zombie flicks anyway, but I think their main appeal for me is the downbeat, claustraphobic atmosphere.
I find post-Evil Dead stuff just too silly which rather takes from the atmosphere of the earlier stuff.
I would recommend tracking down the UNCUT version of Zombie Flesh-Eaters, particularly if you are au fait with Romero's classic Night of the Living Dead.
The italian director (I forget his name right now) made it in response to Romero's original, so where there was darkness he places the zombies in the bright sunshine. It works really well and is FULL of classic moments, from the opening where a boat drifts into New York harbour, to the shower scene where a nice zombie drags a woman by her hair so a splinter from a door goes right into her eye in truly shocking detail, to the scene where they unwittingly rest on an old conquistadors' burial ground.
It's not just about shocks though, the cinematography is wonderful, beautiful even, and it features a zombie fighting underwater with a shark!
(Yep, it sounds awful but it works well and anyway, zombies don't need to breathe do they? DO they?)

that sounds GREAT :D i love these kind of silly films. The worse the title of the movie, the better
Not too long ago i rented a movie called 'I bought a Vampire Motorcycle'. it is as good as it sounds :D i was trying to find the most ridicilous title in the whole horror section of the video store. and it turned out too be pure "so bad it's good" genius of a film. TRY TO FIND IT. there are some "GREAT" actors in this movie, like Anothony Daniels (i think that's his name) who played C3PO in starwars hehe :D

beware though...."Incredible Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living And Became Mixed Up Zombies" IS NOT A GOOD MOVIE although the title indicades it might be fun, it isn't believe me. Most of the movie scenes are bad song-and-dance scenes, and the zombies look terrible

I've heard of that movie, been wanting to see what it was like for a while: it's a pretty ridiculous title for sure. I love some of the Troma titles - like 'surf nazis must die' or 'chopper chicks in zombie town'. plus, they're usually class films in that peculiar kind of way.

If you're into the sillier stuff check out Zombies Lake released during the 80's home video B movie boom.
It's about a bunch of nazis who decide to rise out of their watery grave to chase buxom wenches heh.
Basket Case was a classic too (not a zombie flick tho) about a guy who keeps his dismorphic brother (basically just a head) in a basket and sets him on people he doesn't like.
Btw: wasn't Romero's Day of the Dead awful? At least in the context of his earlier films..
Yeah marlowe, Lucio Fulci, thanks for that!

"Day of the dead" was not awful at all.. I liked it more than Dawn of the dead... I like that the trilogy isn't just about the gore but also about our society and stuff.
I like horrorfilms, but there are more bad ones than good ones...

Hmm, well I just don't think Day of the Dead was genre defining or seminal in the way NotLD or DotD were.
Also, it was a little too sentimental with that 'friendly' zombie.
Still, good film, just not quite in the same class as the previous two.
Ain't seen it for years though. I wish it was on TV so I could re-evaluate now.

Yeah, I think Day of the Dead was an important addition to the trilogy - it certainly had a different atmosphere to the other two, but on multiple viewing I appreciated Day more and more. Still, Dawn is my favourite; I just wish the fucker would make 'Twilight of the Dead' - especially with the special effects at a film-maker's disposal these days.
I used to have Basket Case on video - it's one of those ultra-low budget classics which are actually NOT terrible to the extent of being 'good'. It could be used as a Double Feature with The Driller Killer I think - same grimy atmosphere, same 'gritty realism' if you know what I mean.
