Turn off all the hardware acceleration on your video player
and try again.

This video display malarkey doesn't work by putting frame
after frame into a window, exactly. Dowload virtualdub (it's
free), load up the wmv and you can screen grab from that. Or
load the file into a software DVD player... they usually
have a still-grab function.

"Open your Display Control Panel, go to Settings, click
"advanced". On the Troubleshoot tab, slide the slider all
the way left to the "none" setting. Hit "Apply". Now try to
get the screen shot.

Revert your settings after you get your captures. It works
some times, for some machines. Your mileage may vary. I hear
it's more of a DirectX issue than a security thing. If this
trick fails, get any screen capture program that claims to
be able to capture DirectX screens and games."

If you have windows XP, windows movie maker works perfectly.

nice alternative:

Get freeware virtualdub ( virtualdub.org ). Has very fast
seeking in movies + precise frame by frame scrolling.

Hit 'export current frame to clipboard'.
