Matrix2 - a satire?

i think this film is SO fucking awful, it has to
be a satire.

- its a false film about a false world ... a genious
satirical concept, if i´m right

- the Architect characters speech to Neo, even though its as
confused as hell, talks about repeating storylines, mistakes
being made, rehashing of narative. He´s telling us
that we´re accepting this bullshit all too easily, not Neo

- The Architect even shows us scenes from the Matrix 1......
remember Spaceballs?

- its so grossly over the top on boring cliched action, and
weak on story and characters..... 2 ingrediants for a
pisstake

- look at the multiple Agent Smith scene... pointless if you
buy into the storyline bit maybe its a statement on
"generic, samey, movie adversaries"?

- it just has to be!

I haven't seen the matrix II, but what you're saying seems
reasonable enough - I'll probably watch it someday. not high
on my list of priorities tho.

make is a success.

i love Agent Smith and the Merovingian! they're funny ^^

it was deceiving compared to Matrix 1 (expectable though),
some scenes were funny (in some of the Tekken-Force-like
fights against multiple Smiths for example... don't know if
it was laughable or humoristic, probably both) but nothing
was impressive... it has lost its impressiveness, sadly =(

* btw, just a thought, don't you think the scene where Neo
entered the room with the architect, which the white
light... looked like a Pentium ad?

* btw2, i like Zion by Fluke very much (the music where the
people from Zion are dancing and Trinity and Neo are
mating)... though it ends too abruptely, it's because of the
scene it was used for i guess... still looking forward to a
new Fluke album!!

i thought the bit with neo and colnel sanders definitley
looked like a pentium add.

wtf i totally have to disagree with you here man.

you need to educate yourself or something.

if that is ALL you found in this movie, then i feel bad for
you for missing out on a truely great movie.

this movie left me (as well as millions of others)
questioning everything after the movie was over.

people are sitll formulating ideas, this, that, well what if
you look at it like this? no...how about like this?

this movie has spawned a lot of interesting and eduacated
thoughts on philosphopy.

i really enjoyed it (not just for action scenes)

shame that your above statement is all you got out of this
movie,

you probably didn't pay attention too well or you dont have
an imagination or something (no insults, but comon, read yer
first post).

every single fight scene was i-hit-you, you-hit-me. You can
put as much slow mo or fancy bullet time shit in there as
you like, you ain´t gonna surpass the fight scenes in any
Kurasawa samurai film... and they are almost 50 years old!..
Real time, fast and brutal. "The Bourne Identity" is the
only modern film to get close.

"- The Architect even shows us scenes from the Matrix

uhh the spaceballs bit was showing the future, well, the
movie AS it was happening.

the archie was showing parts of life, and parts of neo's
previous life.

hwo the fuck can you compare the two?

i just lost all respect for you on these thoughts, jeez!

uhh yeah this movie is based around nice effects, but you
are one of those people who are always complaining. and when
everyone is saying "that movie is so awesome, whoa that part
was awesome" - you are the one who goes "dood that wasnt
shit, i know this movie that blows it away"

just let it be.

not everyone will like every movie, and i personally really
enjoyed the effects.

bullet time is THEIR invention, why cant they use it
repeatedly?

oh, and qrter, let me rephrase that,

it has brought a lot of people who NORMALLY wouldnt htink
about philosophy - into being interested in it and being
quite thought provoking.

you just have to find something to relate to someone, then
you can teach them it

offline KEYFUMBLER from DUBLIN (Ireland) on 2003-06-03 06:36 [#00725256]

good one elusive.

ever see Wizard of Oz, Dark City, 1984, the Cube, Superman,
Satr
Wars? The Matrix steals from them all.
I got the enitre storyline alright.. and its fucking lame.

offline elusive from detroit (United States) on 2003-06-03 06:38 [#00725258]
Points: 18368 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

steals?

hmmm ok
so then you could say everything has been stolen from lord
of the rings,

or some other fairy tale / story from ancient times

etc.. you get where im going with this.

star wars isn't very "thought provoking"
this movie is, simple as that.

and i doubt you have the entire "storyline"

alls I have to say is this:

You have Matrix, with crazy effects, and an above normal
plot.

Or you can have any other action movie thats been out
recently.

TRY to tell me anything lately has come close in a.
effects/visuals and b. an interesting story line... not just
"there are terrorists", or "a CIA agent gone rouge" or some
other bullshit.

Matrix is a fantasy.

Like elusive said, it makes people who dont normally think
about philosophy, think. I personally think thats a good
thing.

I just dont understand why people get so fucking righteous
about this.

ITS A MOVIE.

IT ENTERTAINMENT.

IF YOU LIKE IT, GRAND!

IF NOW, BIG DEAL, ITS JUST A MOVIE, A DIFFERENT MOVIE WILL
COME ALONG SOON THAT YOULL LIKE.

seriously, whats the point of getting all in a tizzy? Its
like you guys take it personally.

yeah, the storyline is that neo is part machine-part human,
which is why he was able to shoot down the squiddies at the
end of the second.

its about deterioration in quality, chaps. i get in a tizzy
because i feel sucked into a big pile of nothing. Its so
bubblegummy and poppy. I like popcorn movies as much as
anyone .....like "Back to the future" or something, but this
is all just abolute pants. its really fucking bothers me
that soo many people buy into it. People i know and respect
seriously like it - yet it lacks narative and consistent
structure. its cheap, wooden and souless... quite creepy
really

Keyfumbler, not to be rude (dont take it this way please, )
but you are acting like the matrix (laff)

all these people like the movie, and you are the only one
who does not. you think it's stupid and it ticks you off
that no one else sees "the truth."

heh, kinda like yer neo then, the one who "sees the truth,,,
that this movie sucks" and everyone else you are talking to
are pawns in the matrix, zombies, etc...who like the movie.

YAR HAR HAR I MADE A FUNNAY!

and coming on this MB and saying ALL YOU, SPECIFICALLY, WHO
LIKED IT ARE DUMB.

i just think some people's expectations were not only
unreasonably high for this movie, but the were also
off base... meaning that they were expecting something other
than what it was.

some people will like it, some won't. i personally liked it
a lot after seeing it a second time. parts that seemed
hokey the first time made more sense after seeing it again.

For a movie that you thought was 'so fucking awful' you
obviously spent a fair amount of time thinking about it, and
are passionate enough about it to argue your opinion on this
board.

whether you liked it or not, the movie had a relatively
profound effect on you.

this is why you hate it, and why i love it even more.

interesting.

i DO have to say that the initial points brought up by

perspective, even though i can't say that i agree with
anyone for i don't have an opinion yet on the movie.

keyfumbler: i think you just didnt like the movie. i dont
think any of that architect stuf or the premise is supposed
to be some nod towards people who are better than the
average movie audience. someone had a similar theory about
a.i. and i said the same thing, i think you just dont accept
it for what it is.
