ive only been listening to him for the last few months
after i heard 'on' for some reason. 'on' was so amazing that
i delved deeper and was lucky enough to download xtal. ive
gone on and got a lot more superb tunes since, but now
looking back and listening to these 2 tunes again, i reckon
theyre his best. and xtal is probably the greatest tune ever
for me.

NIN further down the spiral did it for me.
'at the heart of it all' was the gateway drug to my aphex
addiction.

I think the tracks that got me into aphex are
"Windowlicker", "Come to daddy" and "Girl/boy song"... Also
I loved the windowlicker-video (and liked the come to
daddy-video)...

Although I didn't listen to aphex before 2000 (I had heard
some tracks though)
I do remember a quote by a quite famous swedish actress who
said she enjoyed listening to aphex twin, cause she liked
when "random" things happen in music, when she didn't know
what to expect.
That made me interested, but that was more than a year
before I got into his music.

One day I heard a radio-programme about dancemusic, and that
particular show was about ambient, and they played "girl/boy
song", and I just felt like that track is amazing...
Also his music was featured here and there in movies n
stuff.
So I came across "RDJ Album" and "Come to Daddy" and
listened to them a lot...
But the first album I bought was of course "Selected Ambient
Works"...

"girl-boy song" is obviously not ambient, but they talked
about aphex twin (on the show) as a person who made a big
influence on the genre with his (lowquality as the called
it) "selected ambient works (1)", and perhaps they played
several tracks by him, but what I remember now is listening
to "girl/boy song" and being amazed, just before going to
bed...

lowquality = the sound of many tracks on the album.

Both the remixes (I mean Reload's and U-Ziq's) are miles
better IMHO

it was drukqs

I bought it and liked it so much that I went to search for
reviews in the internet... so the first review was like:
"this is shit comapred to the previous albums" so I just
couldnt understand cos I was loving drukqs and I felt
curious about the other albums then that were suposed to be
so much better than that, so I bought saw I and I care
because you do... and I loved them right away... and
meanwhile I kept on searching the net for aphex till I found
this place too... and here I am just a year and a half later
with 24 original aphex cds at home and totally obesessed
about the man and his music, totally ruined too and addicted
to this MB

It started with a 9 second sample of 'Donkey Rhubarb' I
heard in '98. I heard my first complete track of his only in
2001.
