When I make a midi with a trumpet or sax sound, sometimes
when I listen back to it I think "that poor player is blue
in the face" cause robots don't have to pause for breath.

So I tried to play with this in mind and use shorter phrases
but it sounded like shit.

So now I'm going to try blowing air while I play... going
PFFFFFFFTTT and pause when I have to breathe... crazy or
what huh?

I think this is what Zeus was talking about when he said
"Yup" and "yup" and "I like marshmellows"

Think about the band---what?

good horn blowers can circular breathe anyway so there would
be no pauses.

just like playing the digeridoo, using your cheeks, push air
out of your mouth while you breath in through your nose.

Interesting! I only played the keyboard with the trumpet
patch while going PFFFFFT, and paused for breath, and it
made me listen to the piano track more closely and do a like
call-and-response thing. And it made the trumpet sound more
authentic. It made the track "breathe" more, no pun
intended.

I'm-a try it with non-wind instrument sounds like synth
patches too.

it's hard getting the breathing down for playing piano!

I used to play trombone actually, but I played in the school
band, and there were plenty of places for breathing...

Check Roland Kirk. He used to play two wind instruments
at the same time! He'd have four or so around his neck and
do allsorts of silly shit...My favourite is 'we free kings'

Horseshit. He's hitting bass notes on one, which requires
both hands, and playing something else on the other...
unless he's closing the stops with his toes?? I vote for
overdub, or smelly hippie #1 and smelly hippie #2 at the
same time.

The first thing Don Van Vliet does when you meet him is
to bring you immediately into his world. "Those people over
there take too many showers," he said to me seconds after I
walked into his manager's Greenwich Village apartment for
our interview.
