This has been floating around for a while - it's mostly hip
hop with lyrics but in no way staggered or glitchy.

i just wondered if any of you know anything about this as
it's not an official release

i think : )

check this "non album" on slsk or something

i'd be tempted to suggest that they are either tracks
selected by him that he likes, or as some sound familiar,
that they are the original tracks from which he has sampled

any ideas? check it, its well smooth

one word extinguisher is a little less glitchy than vocal
studies.... but equally as good

I was disappointed by One Word Extinuguisher. Vocal
Studies... is far, far better.

Is it all short tracks?? There was a cd-r of stuff he made
under the name "Scott Herren"(his real name, imagine that),
mostly just "interludes" according to the guy that was
selling stuff at that show, I didn't get it

offline jamesa from United Kingdom on 2003-05-29 10:59 [#00719696]

Ok, I will restate, are all the tracks SHORT??? Not long
tracks, short ones....

offline jamesa from United Kingdom on 2003-05-29 11:02 [#00719700]

no - it's an album of some tracks which are titled by other
bands/groups/individuals and some tracks which just have a
name

i'd say one word extinguisher is much better than vocal
studies... not to say that vocal studies was bad, but
rather, the new album is much more free-flowing, coherent
(and fucking funky)... whereas Vocal Studies suffered at
times due to the over-glitchiness taking flow, and melody
away from some of the tracks... as for this non-album...
well i'm really not too certain i know what you are
referring to but i can tell you that he did a lot of
production for the Urban Renewal Program compilation on
Chocolate Industries...

my feeling is that this 'non album' is a fake floating
around.

prefuse only got 2 albums and an ep as far as i know.

he's produced stuff for other artists. the 'urban renewal
program' compilation is essential for prefuse fans.

interestingly, the track perverted undertone off one word...
is on this nonalbum, which i got about 6 months before one
word

I just got this off Soulseek and it's excellent. Its all
non-album stuff, some alternative mixes of stuff from Vocal
Studies and I cant find any information about it.
Its not Extinguished:Outtakes and it's not officially
released. Most of the tracks are quite long and its got a
re-edit of Radio Attack and Perverted Undertone on it.
Theres an awesome track with Doseone.
Can anyone shed any light on what it is?

Ah its ok. I checked the ID3 tag and it says this:
"Nonalbum" is an mp3 bootleg release assembling most of
Prefuse's compilation entries and remix work as of early
September, 2002. There exists no official material version
of this release.

Still. Highly recommended

the album of stuff you can find under his birthname (Scott
Herren) is called "Sleeping On Saturday and Sunday
Afternoons"... the non-album thing, as far as i know is just
a compilation of non-album tracks that people have collected
by the man... that it almost seems like an album, is because
people have delegated an entire folder to it, and it has
been acquired by many fans on soulseek (myself included...
though i just found all the individual tracks myself...
because i don't think proper-like)... the Doseone track is
from the Rapid Transit compilation on chocolate industries
and it is Scott Herren and Dose, together under the name
Communications Project... other tracks you might run across
are: a remixes of Trans Am, Via Tania, Erland Oye, Ko-Wreck
Technique, Beans, Push-Button Objects with mr. Lif, Telefon
Tel Aviv, Phil Ranelin (fuckin wicked), Phoenecia...
