watched this movie for the first time in god knows how
long. it seems to have aged well. any thoughts, or has this
one been discussed to death?

I loved that movie. Love Edward Norton...

Have you read the book?

i watched it with the commentary with ed norton, brad pitt
and david fincher on, so that gave some nice insight into
the movie. too bad they couldn't get radiohead to do the
soundtrack like they had wanted to.

oh I see.

I have the DVD but I haven't watched it with the cmmentary..
maybe I will.

Radiohead? That would of been pretty fresh.

i actually think the book is better than the movie, but the
rest of his books haven't really lived up to the standard
set by that one. they all seem to repeat the same basic
tone, themes expressed in that one.

I'm reading "Choke" by Chuck Palahniuk currently. It's
really good.

I read "Survivor" (i posted about it a while back) by him as
well, it was amazing.

palahniuk is the living end
fight club is a sick fucking book, everyone who likes
apocalyptic satire will dig it
but I think lullaby is even better.
I also liked choke a lot. it's a quick read and quite
wonderfully vulgar I think
he's kind of a brett easton ellis for juniors

Surivivor is my favorite, Invisible Monsters is pretty
disturbing as well.
Fight Club is a great DVD, don't even know how many times
I've seen it. Too many.

Chuck has a new book coming out !
Fugitives & Refugees - July 8th, 2003!
A Walk in Portland Oregon

(Taken from someone who listened to Chuck read some of the
book) With a small crowd I had the lucky opportunity to
hear Chuck read from Fugitives and Refugees this past
October 2002 in New York.  He read about 3-5 chapters from
the book, each comprised as a separate mock-postcard written
from Chuck to the people he knows living outside his
hometown of Portland, OR.  From the moment Chuck began
reading his first selection about his experiences at a Pink
Floyd laser light show on acid, the entire crowd was
hysterically laughing. But the level of laughter far outdid
any response I've ever heard Choke, Lullaby, or even the
felching scene from Invisible Monsters get.

But Fugitives and Refugees is not only a laugh riot of
embarrassing and revealing moments in Chuck's life, it's at
the same time very autobiographical.

fight club was an uppercut right on the jaw. i watched that
movie many times.

i read survivor soon after and really liked it, heard a
while ago they were supposed to make a movie out of it.

bought choke, it's a good read, but it's true that the mood
and everything gets repeated, the main characters are too
alike in his books.

i got lullaby, but i have yet to read it.

yeah, have you seen him in everyone says i love you? his
performance is breathtaking.
haha....anyhow, he has been in his fair share of classics --
the people vs larry flynt, american history x (funniest
movie ever)...

glad the dust brothers did the soundtrack; couldn't imagine
it any other way.

Cortex - Hey I read survivor too!

Have you noticed how much SHIT Chuck Pahlaniuk knows?

"The best way to get semen out of trousers is to use a lemon
and soap mixture - 1 part soap 4 parts lemon" (that's not an
example but that kind of shit - that and the whole making
bombs with soap thing)

Fucking crazy-smart bastard!

but i know he does a shitload of research for every book he
writes.

yeah. Most good authours (that write in the same way, with
details) do a lot of resarch though...

I read some interview where he said that he began writing on
this book after working with [addicts or old people or
something] which he took to support groups.
He then was amazed (or something) by the openes that people
had to eachother at supportgroups and thought like "what if
somebody's faking it"...
Also back then there were several (fiction) books he'd read
that had real (food) recipes in them (these books weren't
about food really).
And he thought it would be fun to do the same stuff (putting
real fact/info into his books) but with bombs and such
stuff...

I watched the movie like 5 times last autumn cause I (and
some classmates) analyzed it for a class we had at the
university... It got better every time we saw it... Fincher
knows how to add qualitytime to a film =)
Nearly any (can't think of any now anyway) unnecesseary
stuff, and it's nice to look at, has excellent sound and
great music...

haha... that's kinda funny..
I liked the commentary to, but my classmates were so angry
cause they wanted Fincher to analyze the movie (there were
certain scenes we disagreed on what they actually meant,
like how he had used symbolism -etc) on the commentary
track, which he obviously didn't.

this movie is a masterpiece. The dialogues, and the
monologues are extremely well articulated. Edward Norton is
a great "monologuist", and his effort in this film is beyond
anything I've ever seen. He's a fucking natural.
